Christ said a few times that "only the Father knows the hour". I think such attempts to try and find something more than what is there in this area is a colossal waste of time and effort. Besides, the Church is the New Israel, not the geopolitical State of Israel.

This is a possible war, not Yeshua's return (only the Father knows the hour). Um, no matter what you think, there is a State of Israel, that is a reality and that reality may be going to war with Iran soon. Looks like Russia may have stopped or delayed any Iranian attack. None of what you said has anything to do with this.

Besides, the Church is the New Israel, not the geopolitical State of Israel.

Amen to that. Now I do obviously support the right of the State of Israel to defend itself from a terrible terrorist attack, but when it comes to eschatological prophecies, any remarks made in scripture that pertain to Israel in the present should be interpreted as referring to the Church. But furthermore attempting to decode information about the date of the end times from these prophecies is something I just don’t see in the Orthodox Church, and it brings me great peace, because I always found Protestants and Restorationists who were fixated on the end times to be extremely frustrating. Their fixation on the end times becomes such that they forget about, or ignore the fact, that for them the day of judgement is approaching regardless of when the world itself ends or not. And preparing for a hypothetical apocalypse can distract one from repentance and the practice of the Christian faith. Consider those people who wasted money in the cold war on their own private bomb shelters that would not have significantly aided their chance of survival in a full nuclear confrontation that reached what Otto Kahn called a Level 44 Spasm/Insensate War at the top of his 16-step Ladder of Nuclear Escalation. That money could have done a lot more good in the hands of the Church or various charitable organizations that provide medical care or services to the poor.

Aaaaaaaamen! I think the same can be said about the St Paisios prophecies too.

And unfortunately, certain Internet Orthodox priests spread a similar doomer mindset during COVID which only added to the already existing problems in American Orthodoxy. This mindset also distracts from repentance and practice of the faith.

Isn’t there issues with Fr. Peter Heers canonical status and ecclesiastical standing? Hasn’t he disobeyed his bishop? I don’t know. I think we have to pray for peace that this can be avoided and to have as much time to repent and pray for those who are asleep in The Lord. It gives me anxiety and that’s not good…from my lack of faith and lack of trust in The Lord.

I don’t really understand any prophecies. It makes it difficult to focus. I’m already so distracted now that I’m a mother. I can’t do anything except pray and repent. I have hope (yet I still pray that) He will give us all more time to repent and continue to do works pleasing to Him.
