  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

i've really started something here..haven't i? as i sit herea nd read what's going on here...and everyone has a great point. but is it really the money people wnat when they enter? i know thats not why my grandfather and great grand father entered the air force...they did it for their counrty. but now days the reason most people enter is for the money. yea, it pays good and helps through college but you shoudl really enter if you feel called to do so.

I joined for purpose. Honestly, before I signed up, I didn't know any famous heroes in the military. I do now. As a single guy in the military I don't see how we get paid well. Sending off a car payment, phone bill, ISP bill, and keeping uniforms nice and tidy, really cuts into paycheck.

I to am E-5 but I live in the barracks (we are not given the option). I am stationed at MCAGCC in 29 Palms, CA. If you have been to Ft. Irwin, just go further out into the desert and you will find us. The cost of living is low out here, but that still does not justify the low pay. Of course, only a fool would do this for the money.

True that, the army actually leaves moving off post to the discretion of the commander, I got out exactly one week before a new commander came around and said E-5's can't do that anymore. My BAH and BAS do account for about half my pay check now. I would say that only a fool would do what me and you do for the money. Because our jobs are dangerous and miserable at times. But if someone were to join say the airforce or the navy and get the same benefits we are ie.. college is paid for etc etc, I think that would be pretty smart of them.. like joining the coast gaurd or something. ... and I've never been to Fort Irwin, have you ever been to fort stewart... lost in the woods.
