  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

WOW. I've been eveloped by this strong desire to witness, I just want to tell everyone I see about the Lord and spread the gospel. I'm loving this feeling and want it to last forever. I do however need advice on how to properly witness to somone because I've never been taught how. Any advice> Is there anything I shouldn't say? Oh yeah, is there anyone that needs witnessing or maybe a non believer that needs someone to talk to?

One thing you need to remember is that Salvation does not always need to be the goal.

Planting a seed in most cases is the best thing.

read the story of the woman at the well.

Jesus started with the natural and then went to the spiritual. This type of witnesingusually is the most productive. You talk to someone about natural things and then at some point during the conversation you can use someting they say to turn it to the spiritual.

Live out your committment to Christ, and when the opportunity arises, speak out. Be aware that not all situations desire/need a full on testimony, sometimes people will say certain things and you can subtlely alude to fulfillment in Christ, or even just plant a seed. Pray for the Holy Spirit to fill you so that when you speak you will have the right words coming out of your mouth. :)

Actually, I was going to put these lyrics in my sig along with roger waters but here:
"Let mercy lead / let love be the strength in your legs /And in every footprint that you leave / There be a drop of Grace." -Rich Mullins

GFC you have such a sweet heart that you fill the room with love. I think that is the best witness we can have when people can feel us radiating the love of Christ.
That's what changes lives.

i went witnessing today.

it was my first day. my focus wasn't on bringing people to Christ, most of the people i stopped to talk with were already Christians, but about getting people thinking about spiritual/religioius things and/or introduced them to the Christian community on our campus.

i had a questionnaire, nonthreatening way to start, and we just went over the questions, like "what does spirituality mean to you", "what does religion mean to you", "would you like me to tell you more about spiritual fulfillment".

I've done witnessing with questionnaires before too, with Campus Crusade for Christ. I'm sure you're thinking more of relational evangelism. It's good to have a few questions or openings in mind for that. A good quetion is, "What's your religious background?" or "What do you think about religion/spirituality?" or "Do you think it's possible to really know God?" I'm sure you can think of more. Campus Crusade has these little booklets called "Would You Like to Know God Personally?" that outline the Gospel message. You could either use something like that, or figure out what you'd want to say by looking at something like that.
It's awesome that you have a passion for witnessing! :D
