Hi there, Cartagena, Colombia has a special place in my heart. First reason is because all my inlaws are there, and second I have been there and see the hunger the people have there to survive and be passionate about everything.
I really want to do some kind of mission in Colombia. My situation though is that I have to get rid of some dept first before I can actually go and live there, which could be many years.
My Idea is first to start a non for profit organization, then to gain the confidence of all the local churches regardless of denomination to join and support this organization. The churches would use this organization to get direction and resources to become better involved in there community by using there facilities for community centers during the week days. The Organization would be used to gain support from local businesses for food, sports equipment for kids, money, clothes, and lots of volunteers.
The Churches would be maximizing there space and church for the good of there community by having sports and workshops for kids and adults on many different topics, distributing food, clothing ect.
Anyways that is my goal in a nutshell. If you have any other ideas I would love to hear them.
To support myself,
I have professional skills in almost all the trades, I am a handyman/contractor for a few commercial buildings in the city where I live. I also do work for the building management company were I live. I also have another business in mobile welding.
So anyways, I would really like to do this one day, but am waiting on Gods perfect timing as that is always the case.
In the meantime, my wife and I support a couple of churches in Cartagena from time to time when they have a need.
Well if anyone has any useful information to pass my way I would be very grateful.
