  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Want one of mine?????

Ok see I had my first kid when I was your age and..hehahah..you do NOT want a baby right now. If the urge is that strong, here's something you can do. Set a painfully loud alarm to go off every hour and a half day and night, pay a neighbor to throw up on you repeatedly, and adopt a cat with a bladder control problem. It'll be pretty much the same experience. Oh, and then try finishing high school on top if it. If you think the worst is over after potty training and self-feeding, wait till you start finding month-old pieces of meat stashed in the tiny crevaces of your house you never knew existed and they start screaming "no" at everything you say. Wait till going out to eat in a restaurant or shopping for clothes at the mall becomes a literal battle and everyone within a 100-foot radius stops what they're doing to turn and gawk and whisper about what a terrible mother you must be when your kid starts screaming for no reason and nothing you do can shut them up. I'm not even gonna touch puberty. I'm just gonna stop right there and let that marinate for a while.

I really like the alarm idea. I don't have a kid. and i have never wanted children. My bf and I get his daughter who is almost 2 on the weekends. And that sometimes is enough for me. She only goes to sleep between 3-5am. When you get her in bed early at 11 she wakes up at 2 screaming. when she does this i give her the bottle and if she doesn't want the bottle i just let her scream all she wants because i have to sleep. My bf gets up and picks her up, half asleep singing songs to make her sleep.
It's odd how this world works sometimes, when you don't want kids you get stuck with them and when you do want kids it never turns out the way you want it to.

Don't be down on your natural desires, or take some of these posts as face value. Your time will come. Just ensure that you have a loving husband to share both the joys and responsibilities of parenthood.

Being a parent has been one of the most enriching, demanding yet intensely satisfying experienecs of my life. We currently have full time care of a young girl who was born in our house and is now a six year old. The delight has not faded in spite of our advancing years.

I personally do not want children, nor does my bf. But if the urge is that strong, I suggest you volunteer your time at a local day care centre. That way you will be interacting with children (which I'm assuming is your main reason for wanting a baby), and you don't have them 24/7 - you can give them back to their parents at the end of the day :D .
