Roughly 11 percent said Santa should be female while about 17 percent said he should be gender neutral.
Just over 70 percent said Kris Kringle should remain male.

That last line should seal it... He is, after all, or was a man or a male, "Kris Kringle", and if they want to try and change his appearance or anything, should it not be something close to reality or the reality of the thing...?

Just kind of shows you just how truly lost some of our people in this "modern day world and culture" and I would even go so far as to even say how "dumb" or how very dumb some of them are or can be when it comes to these things...

Given "Santa" as a popular figure seems to be a conglomeration of sentimental fantasy and marketing genius, I'm fairly indifferent either way. Any update could hardly be worse.

(And I get that St. Nicholas is in the background here, but honestly, so far back in the background that any meaningful connection seems to have been lost along the way).

If Santa changes to female, that'll leave Mrs.Klaus in a pickle. I doubt she's up to the change in lifestyle.

My husband joyfully bought a Saint Nicholas ornament for our tree. He had a bishop's mitre and everything! Very cool.

A new Zealand town had a Maori Santa in their parade this year. It created a bit of a storm, not so much because of his skin colour- we've had different ethnicities for years, but because he was dressed in a feather cloak instead of the red suit and hat. People didn't recognize him as Santa, and some got a tad upset. Others thought it a refreshing change - no matter what you do, someone will be determined to be triggered and offended.

What of Rudolph was just a regular reindeer?

He would not be much help to Santa. But he would not be bullied around either. Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer from Rakin and Bass happens to be one of my favorite Christmas classics.

I think that they need to go Retro. Back to the original, Saint Nicholas of Myra. Do away with the commercialism.
