  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Just about every name brand product is less expensive at wal mart, from my experience and I mean the EXACT same brand, whether it is; bread, yogurt, ketchup, booze, toilet paper, cleaning products, dog food, frozen foods, light bulbs, auto products, some electronics and I could go on and on and on. Again, I am talking about the SAME name brand products that many stores sell and Target is not even in the ballpark for those same products. Costco is competitive with some (if you bulk), but some of the same products are still higher, even when you buy the bulk quantities.

And yet you don't have a single shred of evidence to back up your claim. :p

Hey, I can read price tags on products, quite well in fact. Did I right them all down in a book, no.

Whether you believe me or not, is really not a concern of mine.

I went into a Walmart once, since it was the only store in the town I was driving through. It was scary how cheep the items were, and at the time everything had a cheep feel. They may have been fine, but they didn't interest me at all.

This was several years ago, so things may have changed. But for somethings I don't think I will be going there.

Unfortunately, the peopleofwalmart website isn't too far off in it's depiction of customers and staff. It was always a little startling seeing the staff. I've never seen a more slovenly appearing and unattractive group of humans in one location, ever.

I didn't think they were bad people, or even bad employees generally speaking, although gross incompetence was a common problem. Instead, they looked so misshapen, one could've gotten the impression that they were a different and inferior evolutionary branch of homo sapiens.

And that's why Walmart is where they end up working, rather than a company that pays "real" wages and provides a full plate of benefits. What's that old saying - dress and present yourself for the job you want, not for the job you have?

I wouldn't say that the quality of Walmart Chinese goods are fair or even good. The electronics are outdated and not much cheaper than their consumer competition. Their home good are poor to fair for the price. Other stores have American made products that do cost more, but are of a much higher quality.

I find that Walmart teeters between lower price/same quality and similar price/inferior quantity.

In general, I would agree.

But, as I have stated, most of the products I buy at walmart, are name brand products, not the walmart brand products. For the name brand products that are sold at every store, I find wal mart to be less expensive than other options, for the exact same brand product.

Correct, which is why I stated in another post, some of the folks who work at walmart, likely can't get employed at other stores or places and they are not in demand. Walmart gets them at lower wages because of this and the other option would them not working at all, which I don't think would be a good thing.

Hostility is not a substitute for empirical evidence. :amen:

I have all the evidence I need, my eyes and some basic math.

If I was concerned about proving this to others from an empirical standpoint, I could go take pictures of brand products at walmart and then do the same for the same products at other stores, but that is not going to happen.

If you don't see the same price difference at the walmarts by you, then so be it, I happen to see lessor prices in my area and that is what I act on.

Really?

Well, I have no motivation to go through the trouble of presenting that evidence, as I have better things to do and it is not important whether you believe what I say.

So, you obviously think I am lying about my position that my local walmart store has lower prices for brand products then their competitors, correct?

What could my motivation be to lie about such a thing?

Of course, you are paid by walmart to write these things.

Of course.

And walmart pays me after being on this site for over a year and never mentioning a word about walmart and when I did, it was in response to someone else's post about walmart. Walmart also pays me to be an atheist and make all the other posts I do on this forum on other topics.

Sure, why not?

Insisting you have evidence is not the same thing as actually having evidence.

Have you absorbed the comments I have made about this, or have they eluded you?

I do insist I have evidence, I just have no interest in jumping through the hoops to prove it to you.
