  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but througout the Bible, there has only been 2 people who have actually walked with God, Enoch and Noah.

For Noah:
Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked with God
Gen 6:9

Noah was able to walk with God for he was righteous and "blameless". Does blameless mean perfect? Does one have to be perfect to "walk with God"? What does it mean to be perfect?

But what of Enoch?
When Enoch had lived 65 years, he became the father of Methuselah. And after he became the father of Methuselah, Enoch walked with God 300 years and had other sons and daughters. Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away. Altogether, Enoch lived 365 years.
Gen 5:21,24

Enoch lived in our world for 365 years and he walked with God for 300 years then God took him away. That means for the first 65 years of his life he did not walk with God. After he became the father of Methuselah, something profound must have happened to him that he was able to "walk with God". Why was someone who was able to walk with God given only 4 lines in the Bible while Noah was given 3 chapters worth? Why does God even mention him and not tell us more of him so we may learn from him?

These questions stayed in my head for sometime and this is the answer I thought of and please give me your thoughts also.

Enoch was not perfect for he did not walk with God all his life. Because God only spoke of Enoch in 4 lines to me means that Enoch was an ordinary person, like us. He was no prophet or saviour. He didn't do anything special. The only difference betwee him and us is his faith:

By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death; he could not be found, because God had taken him away. For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God. And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
Hebrews 11:5,6

and what EXACTLY is faith? I believe this to be the best definition of faith:
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
Hebrews 11:1

Now in this day and age, this is almost impossible. When I pray (hope) I cannot say that I am sure I will get what I prayed. There is at least a little doubt in my heart that I might not get what I pray for.
And when it comes to things we cannot see, we are never certain of it. We always require proof or else there will be at least a little doubt in our hearts. There is always a little hesitation. I believe if we are able to have 100% faith in God, meaning you are 100% sure you will get what you pray for and 100% certain of God's words (The Bible), then I truely believe that we will be able to walk with God. But this feat seems almost impossible in this generation or the generations to come. And what does it mean to walk with God? I think it's able to know and to do God's will?

What do you guys think? I'm very curious for if there is one thing I'd love to do most, is to be able to walk with God.
