  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

When you walk closely with the Lord I believe you would see somone who is content and at peace with life. I believe you would see that they had a certain radience about them sort of an attractiveness not of the looks but it would be the kind of person people would gravitate to. They would have a desire for the deepth truths of God. They would be able to have conversational relationship with him and truly understand that he is living in and through us and that it is not we who live but Christ in us. The would be the friend of God.
I find this very interesting. I not only agree, as I do with all the posts, but this is saying what on another thread people have testified they have experienced - an attractiveness that draws people to them. I'm sure you caught that, connect.

Cool!

In Cor. it is said that it is a fragrance, of life to one and death to another.

I didn't read the other threads I was just talking about what I have learned from reading about Jesus and other great men of God but that is cool that someone put that.
No, I didn't think you had read the other thread, but you may find it of interest, along with connect.

It's not an easy walk however, unfortunately as Christians we make it seem like once Jesus saves us there will be no struggles. We still struggle, we still trip up, but at least we can keep running back to our dad. And that is something I want to be humble enough to admit that I make mistakes and make bad decisions, and don't always listen to the voice of God when I should and sometimes I act out foolishly, but I can stand up and say yes I stuffed up, but I have the grace of God, praise Him for that.

Hello all,

Now that we have established that there are some behaviors that assist us in walking closely with God, I'm wondering how much is dependant on our motives/attitudes/behaviors/etc. that actually contribute to our walk with God? Do we actual play a part or is it only the Holy Spirit in our lives? Any ideas would be welcome.

Thank you,

Well I believe that if we are walking on the path of righteousness, or in the light of the Lord, then the Holy Spirit would be or should be the only one guiding our steps.

I'm not sure of the scripture but I do think there is somewhere that says about not making a decision without God, not taking a step without God, but always consulting Him first, so in other words allowing the Holy Spirit to guide us continually.

I will go and look for it, in the meantime if anyone else knows of that scripture then go for it, lol.

Could it be Prov. 3:6 > Acknowledge Him in all your ways and He will direct your steps?

What we do plays the entire part. God has already given us everything. It is now up to us to make decisions to walk in obedience and draw near to God or not. We can have as much of God as we want. How much we have is dependant on how much we really want it, because it is our pursuit of God that determines how much we get. "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you". That's it in a nutshell.

Feed the flesh, reap corruption.
Feed the spirit, reap eternal life.

The way it works depends on what we feed. Every disobedience has its recompense of reward. Each time we make a decision to obey we grow spiritually. Each time we refuse to follow the leading of the Spirit, or refuse to do what we either know or believe to be right, we harden our hearts. Sanctification is a process of decisions. We don't discount the mercy of God, because without it we would have no hope. We all fail in many ways. But if we live up to what we know, we will draw near to God.
