" Walking in the Spirit " is a process that is repeated over and over again in scripture. It is a two step process. We are to believe in the death of the cross and then appropriate the power of the resurrection. The simlest way to put it is: Repent and Believe. Repent is changing one's mind about the value of the old life; belief is appropriating the value of the new.
In Romans 6 Paul says," Consider yourselfs dead to sin and alive to God in Jesus Christ." In Ephesians he says," Put off the old man, put on the new." These are not different things, they are the same, but put in different ways so that all will understand.
A walk consist of two steps, one with each leg, repeated again and again. So the walk in the Spirit is achieved when every demand life makes on us is met by taking up the cross that we might experience the resurrection. It can happen many, many times a day.
