  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi...today I was struck so hard by a scripture I've been reading over and over but today it simply hit home in my spirit! Walking in authority as a child of God.

Genesis 1;27-31 - the creation of man. I highlight some :
28:"God blessed them and said unto them " be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."
29:"then God said ,I give you every seed bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every seed bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it .........

I read this and I thought oh no! What authority I have been given by the Most High himself !!! Why do I walk around defeated? Beat by the world and all its happeninga...struggling like i was not born in royalty ? I have my own kingdom! And I said to myself why do I struggle day in fighting this fighting that inner turmoil giving the devil authority that he doesnt even have ? I thought it is me who gives him that power over me no one else he has no power or authority I do! And I thought again now collectively as christians how much power we have knowing God bestowed that authority upon us but we find in the face of adversity small or big we tremble like cowards :( .I thought this verses through I didnt interpret them theologically at all but I trully felt highly encouraged by that and I feel like sharing my simple interpretation that hopefully encourage one as well!!! I was happy trully !! For many a times I find myself acting defeated ! No more for I know who I am and how much power and authority i hold!!!! Bestowed upon me by My Father! Amen :)

Hi Missgrundy,
Glad to hear of your revelation. Yes it is very encouraging because I've certainly allowed the devil to get his foot in the door with defeatest thinking sometimes as well.
I'm happy that you were provided clarity and victory and are feeling so hopeful.
Have a blesed day!

All things work good for those who love God. We can be hungry, naked, and forsaken by the world, but God is there with us. Through tribulation we enter the kingdom. Paul loved his weaknesses because he found that God was with him during it. What a great blessing.

Amen, thank you for sharing!
I love it when scripture you have read many times suddenly has new meaning and clarity, one of the many ways we grow, and are fed by the Word!

Indeed indeed what a joy!! Paul got through all that because he knew who his father was and the power Hus father had given him.In the midst He kept his eyes on the knowledge and faith of His Father never leaving him nor forsaking him

In kind, God promised the Israelites to give them power to get wealth. Now, whether or not that applies to Christians, the NT at least says that God will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory, which sounds like an equivalent promise.

But I have to ask the question why have I been failing to get wealth the past 4 years? I see the needs before me, I desire to be generous, but every attempt seems to be an exercise in futility. I'm not complaining because I know God is in control. And it's not that God's promise failed. It is more that I am lazy, undisciplined, and wanting to take the easy way. At least that's the way I see it.

As far as ruling over every living creature, I only rule over squirrels right now. I trap and relocate squirrels because there is a tremendous overpopulation in my neighborhood. I use this hobby as a conversation piece.

Finally, I think we won't know or understand the authority we had in this life until the great and awesome day of judgment when all things will be revealed. I suspect we will finally see the authority we wielded was far greater than we imagined or were even aware of. Just because we trusted Christ. Praise be to God the ultimate authority.

Amen! Well I hear you but then we are able to know the authority He has given us. He clearly states it the go ahead over all other creation as we are his own image n likeness ..and we are the ones who try limit how much power He has given us.He gave it to us on this earth why not ask Him to cobstantly reveal to you while on this earth why underestimate who you are in Christ? Waiting for His coming? That's my question.

He will reveal this to you if u seek! Why do we constantly explain our "defeat" attitude by I'm awaitibg heaven or judgment day that's my question sadly I have a big problem with that to be honest

Maybe someone can explain to me better....sometimes it kind of bothers me yes we await heaven judgment day but does that mean God put us on this earth for that sole purpose? Awaiting? Then the Bible as a guide and the holyspirit who reveals him to us isn't necessary if we await judgment to understand who we are in Christ :(

I understand the theory. If the theory works, then I'm all for it, but it has to coordinate with scripture. If the theory is not working, then I consider myself a pragmatist. I'm not willing to "confess" what is not reality, even if scripture appears to teach it (notice I said appears). I've been down the road of theory a number of times and have come back a realist. We can bank on the spiritual blessings, since scripture clearly says so (Eph. 1:3). But we cannot bank on material blessings, since hardship is promised to every believer (Heb. 12:7-8). This is not a defeatist attitude. It's honesty, it's surrender (to God, not the devil). It's submission to Christ's authority - to let Him rule my life, as opposed to asserting my own authority.

Incidentally, I'm not awaiting judgment day, but rather anticipating resurrection and glorification. Judgment day is simply part of that. Rom. 8:23.
