In high school I did nothing. Once God taught me (instead of my parents), I did 10 miles a day in college. Today, at age 68, I still do about 3.5 a day. Walking is a life changer, not only for the body, but for the spirit. We are created to walk, just like we are created to praise God.

I also love hiking in the woods, which are about a half hour drive away. I started walking a couple of miles at work every other day and it really is helping me health wise; need to lose about 50lbs.

I'm planning to hike two of the hardest mtn hikes in the north East, Mt. Washington and Katahdin. To prepare I need to do more than walk. So I've been running. I think its something about the extra energy in each step or the pounding my legs and feet take that help prepare my legs for what they are going to have to do to climb close to 4000 feet vertical and 10 or more miles to complete each hike in one day. Last night I ran 5 miles in just over an hour.
