  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Thomas 2:
Jesus said, "Those who seek should not stop seeking until they find. When they find, they will be disturbed.
When they are disturbed, they will marvel, and will reign over all. [And after they have reigned they will rest.]

A Question:
Not so recently, I was visiting an Atheist forum, and a question was posed to these men of unbelief, as to why
they debate with believers, who seem to be resistant to reason. The common response seemed to be,
that such debates are "amusing", even if no real good came out of it, even if no one was converted.

In these forums, it becomes quite apparent that those who take a Young-Earthean view here,
who debate with us here, are not moving, much like if we were to engage in a debate with a flat-earther,
they would not be moved either.

Perhaps in reflection an outsider, might view such debates among us, as a waste of time, and if we were to say
as the unbeliever that we do so, because they are "amusing" to us, then we would not be behaving so christian-like.

Apparently we do so to yield good fruit, and one must wonder what are they, or where are they?

An Answer:
For me the story goes, that there are many readers of each thread, who do not participate in the debate,
who seek the truth, and those that do so can judge for themselves fact from fiction, delusion from reality,
sound reasoning from spacious reasoning.

Perhaps some may not understand why the truth in science, is important to the truth in doctrine. But I tell you,
the truth in doctrine lies in what we close our eyes from seeing. And if you close your eyes from seeing one thing,
then your vision is impaired in seeing other things, and all things.

If one can make you believe in what is not there in one thing,
he can make you believe in what is not there in other things.

Hesitation:
But I think I understand the reluctance of the young-earther to accept evolution, because acceptance results,
in viewing one's belief in a different light: where did the water go that flooded the world. What is the tree of life
if it's not just leaves, and sticks?

Though many here, are perhaps reluctant to admit it, learning of modern science does unsettle one's belief.
I remember being disturbed by genetics long before I read about evolution, by a God who placed suffering in hereditary lines.
"We are of the same lot as the beast", spoken in my freshmen bio book, that disturbed me as well, long before I read eccles 3.

I think I understand the reluctance of young-earthers, they are reluctant to be disturbed, as if evolution were a fruit from
The Tree of Knowledge (perhaps it is), that opened the eyes of Adam, and us who have already eaten of the fruit, are as Eve--tempters.

The Reward:
But you must be disturbed to be awakened; you must arise from your slumber to see.
When you are disturbed, you will marvel.

Though here among us, it may seem that the lot is in a deep slumber, who sleeps no matter how long we shake them from their bed.
I know their bunkmates have awoken, from all the commotion.

I know someone is disturbed, and marvels.

hithesh,
What you have written is exactly how YECs, well myself at least, look at TEs. I think that your statements are very good ones, but can be used for any viewpoint. Each group looks at each other group as unmoved and comfortable. I do, however, think and hope that we all would not be comfortable with our faith, because if we are uncomfortable with our faith we will continue to seek God's face and grow deeper in relationship with Him.

Well, this is where mysteries come in.

Not everything can just be written off, as saying if science can't at least "prove" it can happen, it can't.

Luke 18:27 The things that are impossible with people are possible with God.

I mean, we get a "new" heaven and a "new" earth right? Wonder how long it will take to make that one?
