Recently I had a dream in which the first thing I clearly remembered after I woke up was waking up. I mean, in my dream I woke up from a dream and was talking with my husband about the dream I had just had. We were in a house (not one I know in real life), my husband was in the kitchen, I was across the bar from him, maybe in the breakfast area, and he was sanding the butcher-block top he had just finished, using a rotary sander. I was saying, "...and what I think it means is that we're building something for someone else - again." The dream went on after that, but that is the only part that is sticking with me.

What do you think about waking up from a dream in a dream?

I've had that before (maybe once) and it seemed very significant, which you're probably feeling now. Maybe it relates to how we value dreams -- that there is a tangible reality to dream ministry, recognition and interpretation. Or with praying into what is understood from the dream, a shift begins into a new situation. You have been involved in dream ministry both here and IRL, and stand behind the way God speaks to people through dreams.

I just read your newsletter and saw that you wanted more space to take on new people. (Apologies for posting personal info, I can edit this at your request).

A table serves people -- guests and family, and that's what he was preparing. The butcher-block is a warm and inviting type of table, honoring hand-hewn effort in contrast with plastic or glass surfaces.

The kitchen is very much like the collection of your ministries there -- you are hosts to different ways that people are fed, and love creating that space for people. Even when you have to figure out how to support yourselves, you make nourishing other people's lives your priority.

Another thing about dream within dream -- your ministry fulfills some of your life dreams and ideals, and what you're doing might seem unreal at times. Maybe God is speaking to you through your dreams, about your life dreams. He knows it has become an intimate mode of communication between you and Him, so it could be a sort of wink.

Another thing about the dream -- you walked in on him doing the manual labor, and you analyzed. This might not just be about characteristics and approaches, but that you walked in to be more a part of his ministry territory. Just a guess.

No problem with what you posted. I am not an extremely private person.

You said some very interesting things. Some of your post just speaks life to me, I can't explain it except to say that I know it comes out of genuine love and through the Spirit. I appreciate you.

At the end you said "you walked in to be more a part of his ministry territory" - and this may very well be coming true tomorrow morning. He has been asked to pastor a church, and we're going to check it out in the morning.

Bless you big~

This morning! Aack. So that would explain the unfamiliar house. Your dream might have been intended to show whether to trust the church idea, and where you would fit in. Congratulations on the offer... may God give you both wisdom.
it comes out of genuine love and through the Spirit.
Thanks; I am touched by how long you have walked through your ministry there, with patient endurance, while here I am surrounded by people obsessed with their goals or imperfections.

My few sentences were the easy part, where your years of devotion to getting people through their struggles is immeasurable. Sanding the butcher block brings satisfaction in life.

I wonder if creating the butcher block was the hard part -- N. building up the respect and ministry he had there -- and now sanding is the refining, the salaried position that brings polish to all that he has done.

May God's presence exude from you both as you visit the congregation this morning!

We went this morning, and there were only about 15 people there. We met in a classroom of a school, as this week there were so few that we didn't need anything bigger. The worship began, and EVERY ONE of the people there lifted up his head and voice, and it was BEAUTIFUL, all these hearts seeking God. Afterward Nathan delivered a message. He was so relaxed, and it was a beautiful message about the restoration of creation - speaking life and blessing over the earth, and seeking God for revelation concerning what specifically to say. Afterward we went out for lunch with the leader who had invited us, and it was a beautiful time of sharing and praying for one another. God is so good. I feel like we stepped into Kairos for several reasons.

This was not work; it was life. And there is a man whose ministry this is supposed to be, but he is not in the right place right now. Soooo we are building this for someone else again.

Butcher block....... why butcher block....... hmmm...... here's something I found online (Butcher Block and Butcher Block Countertops | Butcherblock):
In 1881 Michigan Maple Block Pioneered the development of the butcher block. At the time the block was called the "sanitary meat block" and was developed to meet the needs of butchers around the world. Prior to the invention of the butcher block meat was cut on tree rounds, sections of trunk which had one major problem, they cracked. By cutting boards into smaller strips and re-gluing them in a particular pattern stability could be achieved. This is precisely what Michigan Maple Block Co. developed.

Talitha, thanks for the play-by-play! I was thinking of you this morning. What a wonderful outcome.

I never thought of butcherblock tables as being sanitary...thought the pores in the wood were a risk but mbe better than the cracks they had before. That adds all sorts of richness to the meaning.

Cracks in the past one that still functioned but had weak areas where germs collected...
refining in the new...
you were glued-in to the country (like grafted)...less natural but strong and sanitary, stable...
built from trees (like the culture of the people) and strips of wood (variety of people put together)

Exciting prospect!

Inception.
It seems the average ones would include a brain misperception similar to deja vu, where information jumps into long term memory, then is perceived in short term as having already been established. In a dream-within-a-dream, the brain perceives it's in a dream while it's processing a dream.

But since the rest of the dream carried insight, it would make sense that this part would too.
