  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I am unemployed right now. Temp agency says they have a job for me...then it falls through. I don't whether to volunteer or just wait until something comes up. I am applying to jobs though.
I need some advice, I don't want to sit around but I don't want to see a possible job pass me by either.
thanks in advance

Going and asking in person can make a big difference. Many churches, hospitals, and corporations need all kinds of help, even if it's just part time. Don't be afraid to pop in and ask. It shows initiative and the worst thing they can say is that they're full.:)

What kinds of things should I be offering to do? What usually do these folks need help with and what kind of places are likely to respond?
thanks:wave:

Hey Janny - I run a business and I'd probably be happy enough with someone sending me an email with their CV where they seemed keen to work hard and show some initiative.

It's a good idea to have a think about the sort of job you'd like and think about the experience you have and make a list of all the places in your local area that matches your skills. Even offer to do a week as voluntary. Better doing a weeks free labour than sitting at home and it might open some doors.

Do you want to work in a shop and help people with their purchases?

Do you want to work in some kind of factory making things?

Do you want to work with children?

Do you want to do outdoors work?

friends and family is a good start. See if any of them can get you a job at their place of work. One thing I did in my job search was to go through the yellow pages and make a list of all companies I'd like to work for and apply at them all.
