  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world
for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

Many have preached the Gospel in this age of Grace
since the Lord ascended into heaven.
It follows that many have heard. But who receives?
Can the person who receives the Gospel be described?

For example, from the first of the beatitudes;

Matthew 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

This describes the spirit of someone bending forward with both hands
extended and empty, seeking to receive the Grace of God In Truth.

John 3:27. John answered and said, A man can receive nothing,
except it be given him from heaven.
I preached the gospel for 27 years in 7 churches. We returned to one of them for their 75th anniversary celebration. After the ceremony, a woman in her 30s came up to me. She said that when she was in middle school and I was her pastor, one Sunday I began my sermon on Ephesians 2:1-10 by saying, "We're all born dead; we're stillborn by being dead to God." She perked up and began listening to see what I meant. She had never listened to my messages up to that point, but she had been eager to listen to and read God's Word ever since that time. We often will never know who will listen to our message, but God has promised that his Word will accomplish its purposes with unbelievers and believers.
