If a tree falls in an empty forest does it make a sound?
Yes, from the air being dispaced during the fall, from the actual physical damage soundwaves to the energy in the form of vibrations when actual contact with the ground occurs..pax..kim

Spiritual take..Jesus's words: John6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. Can we learn something from that?

this might be a slight detour around the point...I dunno. But clearly, language that is meant to hurt others is bad. Our conscience is a matter of reconciliation with God but when it is obvious that someone is hurt, that's a no no. Can we just be practical?

I don't swear hardly at all because I think it sounds uneducated. It makes me think someone doesn't have the intelligence to actually express themselves and what they are feeling so they are just using those words. If something heavy falls on you, like a brick, I wouldn't blame you though. I'd probably utter a few words myself if that happened. =) I don't think it's a sin though if you aren't using the Lord's name. I used to always feel that d--n was a worse word that the other ones because the other ones are just vulgar terms whereas d--n is actually asking for the destruction and final damnation of a person, which seems much worse. So that's my thoughts.

what makes a word vulgar? How is the f word worse than frig? I think its wrong to publically use them, because it offends, but theres no moral diffrenence in privately saying f*** or frig. Words evolve to have differen meanings, for example that 5 letter word that starts with a B....that didn't used to be a curse. Or that 3 letter A word....used to just be a donkey. If you say frig with the same intent as saying the other word (that intent being to express anger or frustration), then you've done the moral equivalent.

Remember, what we say and what we do reflects who we are. Denying yourself something like this builds virtue.

Hmmm, good point. I'll remember that next time I am tempted to utter something vulgar! Unfortunately, I have been taking God's name in vain a lot lately. Please pray that I will cease this. :crossrc:
