• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well this is kind of embarrassing but when I was 13 I discovered masturbaition and I thought it was a major sin and vowed not to do it. Also, I didn't have OCD when I made it. Anyways that was obviously a stupid vow and I continually break it. So my question is is will God let me annull the vow?[bless and do not curse]

Worriedone, all God wants u to do is your best. WE are all going to sin in our lives, and no one is perfect. God knows your heart my friend.

2 years ago I had a huge problem with porn and touching yourself. I havent looked at porn now in 2 years thank God, and I have cut down my touching yourself by alot but havent stopped completely. God knows we are human and of the flesh. HE will not judge like a dictator. He knows your heart.

Just appologize to the Lord and try to make it a habit not to make absolute promises to him. Just ask him for the strength to give him your best each day. God has forgiven you a long time ago as his empathy, compassion and love are infinitly greater for us even then we have for ourselves.:)

This is teh awesome forgiving power of our Lords love for us

Yeah I've learned vows are basically a trap. The Bible even says so. But what I want to know is can I be released from my vows? Like Numbers Chapter 30 and Ecclesiasties has a verse in Chapter 5 that bothers me. See what bothers me is I made a "rash vow" when I didn't have Ocd and since breaking vows to God is so serious I wanna know if God will annull them.

Worriedone he allready has fully annulled them because of your desire for him to want to fullfill them. Remember that God operates first and foremost from the heart. HE proved this by curing the sick on the sabbath. Remember when he did this and the pharasees got ticked. Knowing the laws is nice but practicing them with no heart , compassion, forgiveness and empathy is like not knowing them at all.

God loves you so much and has forgiven you the moment you felt bad about it.
ASK AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE
Thats all you need to do is ask from your heart:)
Jesus is the God of LOVE first and foremost before anything

So I dont need to worry about my vows anymore regardless of what numbers 30 and I thought the law still stands till the end of time, "when Jesus said he didn't come to abolish the law.

Worriedone, the law comes from the heart , and part of the heart of God is mercy, compassion, love and forgivness.
I will send you a pm now:)

The law stands but the heart triumps over all. The heart of God and this was the message Jesus brought to us when he healed people on the jewish sabbath:)
