• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

2 week ago I had a flight fear, and I had thought that my plane was going to crash. Then I overanalyzed things and I thought "God if you save me I will avoid mortal sin, if I do one I'll go to hell" I didn't know why I was thinking about it...
Was that a valid promise?
And before that I had lot of intrusive blasphemous thoughts...
I don't know maybe I had scruples...

It sounds like ocd to me, Jesus loves you very much and He knows you better than you do. God bless you and Jesus is Lord forever.

The holy spirit living in you knows your inner thoughts. He wqill know how scared you were and will know why you made an impossible promise.
God knows we cannot stop sinning.

May I suggest two things.
learn 1John 1 v 9 by heart amd remember it when you are depressed by your failures.
and
Don't make promises to God you cannot keep.

Do you mean the thought just popped into your head? If you didn't consciously think the promise I'm certain it isn't valid, everyone has thoughts they don't mean now and again, we're just hypersensitive to ours, when promises that I don't mean pop into my head I say to myself "that's the silliest thing I've heard today!" and try to laugh it off internally if your mind thinks you don't care the promises will lessen, I still have them but I'm able to ignore them to the point they don't worry me much, I also talk to God about them sometimes and affirm that He knows all things. if you did make the promise intentionally as in you meant it, you are probably covered under Leviticus 5:4-6 since we don't have to make sacrifices anymore because Jesus became our sacrifice I sure He'll release you if you ask.
