Yeah, if we're going to ban people for simply challenging our views, what's the point of a discussion board?
If I went to a WOF board (especially one of the more strict WOF boards), somehow made it clear in my posts that I disagreed with WOF doctrines, and quoted Scriptures or quotes refuting it in my signature, and made posts about things WOF people do not like, I would be banned or ostracized very quickly.
Here, while we profess no board preference on this issue, you can state that you agree with WOF and you can quote as many quotes and verses as you want to and never be banned or ostracized-just as long as YOU don't attack people on here who disagree with you.
IOW, we are already being much more charitable to WOF members than any WOF board would be to those of us who disagree with WOF.
The board rules do not apply to attacking teachings, doctrines, or practices: they refer to attacking people who are members of the board. They prohibit attacks on Catholicism because too often, the Catholic-anti-Catholic debate becomes questioning of salvation and personal attacks which are MUCH more vitriolic than anything said on here about Word Faith.
For example on other boards, I have not seen someone accuse Word Faith of being the "** of Babylon." I have not seen someone call all Word Faith members Satanic, unsaved, or "dogs returning to their vomit." I have not seen Word Faith be called the system that will lead us into the New World Order.
Also, from my personal "insult files" that I've accrued as a fan of anime and RPGs around the 'net and around Christian literature, you have not been told that you worship another God. You have not been told that you're unholy or need to "take your interests before God." You have not been told, in a quite condescending manner, "Would Jesus do what you do?" You have probably not been called a supporter of all things evil. You have probably had no one tell you that you were a Satanic occultist in disguise. And finally, no one has ever told you that the time you spend at WOF activities is worthless and something God will punish you for under (fill-in-the-verse)
My point to this rant is, if you're Word Faith, please stop complaining. You have it incredibly easy already, and if you want perfect agreement rather than any criticism, post on a WOF only board.
FWIW, if you want a nice cure for "Gripe Disease," go to one of the other Christian boards, act like you're something REALLY unpopular (not Word-Faith) and absorb the abuse for a while, then return to being yourself here. You will see that what goes on here about WOF is a gilded path compared to what other Christians have to accept from their brothers and sisters. ~.^
