violent games - should they be avoided?

I played Doom way back when it first came out, pre-ratings. But now with Doom 3, keeping with the Doom title, it's detailed, life-like... okay, that's a push for Doom 3, but enough to dirty your trousers for the weaker... I deny any claims that that includes me...

But then in some games, the concept itself is what we need to keep kids from, and sometimes even ourselves.

are you doing that for their sake or are you just making yourself feel better?

There sake of course i wouldnt want my children screaming to me about nightmares of that game thats all im saying.

Well i play them
It has no negative effect on children unless they cant realy Tell the difference between reality and fantasy
and by that i mean
Jumping off a 10 story building and surviving like on crackdown is fantasy
Yes when in video games you in an aroused state but usualy after 5 minutes of not playing the game you eventually go back to your normal state.
Halo 3 is a fun game and shouldent even be 15 more like 12
Theirs no intense gore like Gears of war
Theirs a little bit of blood if a marine gets shot or blue blood if you shoot a covenant
also Video games are good in ways that they can act as a stress reliver
if you have had a hard day playing a video game can realy calm you down
like GTA you can be angry at a virtual video game character all you want
Its not like your hurting some one in real life
but i do agree Intensely violent video games shouldent be sold to Young children and especialy the ones that dont relaise that video games are fantasy and the worlds reality.
