A couple of chaps knocked on my door some time back and wanted to tell me about the great matter that the whole of creation has a deep interest in, wanting to see it resolved once and for all.

They explained it to me; apparently, Jehovah (that is alleged to be God's name) was accused of making errors in ruling the world. He was accused of holding back vital information, and of making a mess of things. His accuser was an angle named Satan. So, from the time that accusation was made Jehovah has been setting matters straight so that all will know he is Good and rules justly and with honour. He is, in effect, vindicating his name.

It's an interesting take on the scriptures, do you think it holds water?

What I think is the same thing I would think of anyone who attempts to fill in the unknown from the Word of God with their own ideas … If you can make me a frog a dog or a hog I will give you my undivided attention…. If not, you are just a neck blowing bubbles….

perhaps to some extent, satan likely did appeal to the pride of the other angels by telling lies about God, in much the same way that he tempted Adam and Eve by arguing that God was holding out information that would make them gods equal with God, and God did demonstrate unconditional love for man by sacrificing Jesus for our salvation. The degree of suffering that Jesus experienced is testimony to His love.

Just as He did in Job 1 and Job 2.

It's not in the word of God written, so it is a notion of fallen man.

Certainly so ..... God is vindicating His character ..... truth (about God) lies (propagated by satan) .... it is what this is all about. Satan started
this mess in heaven by spreading lies.

God defending/showing/revealing the truth about Himself.

Well, if it's about vindicating God's name, which seems an inferior reason to me, it's all about redeeming lost and hopeless sinners at exceedingly great price to himself.
