You guys reflexively reach for the red herrings.
If you can't answer the question, or simply don't want to, then just say so.What I said is practical. If you are talking about action, then:
When your knowledge hit wall, then look at faith.
What would be the point of me discussing other religions?
Then surely you should be able to understand how, along with all those other religions, your particular religion is meaningless to us atheists in the exact same way.In the practical sense other religions are meaningless to me
(although I do keep an eye on those Muslims).
Shouldn't Christians be good citizens as well? Should the "goodman of the house" not protect his dwelling from thieves that enter and "break up" his house, as these illegals have done?
Protesting when discussion partners move the goalpost, is not a red herring.
It is rather, putting my finger right on the wound.
You might learn something.
Then surely you should be able to understand how, along with all those other religions, your particular religion is meaningless to us atheists in the exact same way.
I keep an eye on all people with faith-based beliefs, as all of them are quite capable of poisoning society with their unjustified/irrational beliefs. Some a bit more then others - depending on the number of followers as well as what exactly is being believed.
And yes, I do find that threatening to a degree. Still talking about all kinds of faith-based beliefs now - not just christians or whatever.
Take homeopathy. I consider that a real threat to health care for example.
Christianity, especially in the US, represents a real threat to the secular principles of a democracy, as well as education, if fundamentalists get elected.
Yes. The relationship might be there or it might be in one direction, or two, or not at all.Lol you can't have it both ways man.
Do you believe gays should be allowed to get married?
s'funny, because religion seems to play a huge part in it.
If you can't answer the question, or simply don't want to, then just say so.
Also, when knowledge hits a wall, the way to overcome it is to work harder. Not to just believe something.
Please. You not only moved the goalposts but the whole playing field by immediately (reflexively) citing the few species of flightless birds among the millions that fly.
Like how not to steal more effectively?
Faith-based beliefs are applied in a practical way in daily life. Where's the threat? Who is harmed if I don't steal from them, or lie to them, or chase their wife, or murder them?
That's a legal/technical issue, not a moral or religious one.
I start to question the sincerity of your question. I may not want to do that next time.
No. Rather about other religions and how it relates to your particular religion. About other cultures and how they differ from your culture.
Staying in your own little bubble in your own little corner of the planet, will not be very helpful to learn about the world and humans in general.
But I get it... you have no interest to step out of your bubble. Too scary, perhaps?
