It's Vietnam. We export around $13B to Vietnam. China raised their tariffs on US goods to 34%. We export $154B to China. Do the math.

China, North Korea, and Iran are our enemies. They take and steal what they can get away with. China in particular has stolen a massive amount of U.S. intellectual property. Those are three countries that are unlikely to agree to a fair and enforceable trade agreement.

Yes, they are our enemies. I was simply noting that Vietnam is such a small percentage of our exports that their lowering of or eliminating tariffs on US imports will have very little impact on our economy where China's raising of theirs will have a much bigger impact. It was about simple math and not who is our friends and who is our enemies. The one thing that makes me curious about the tariff trade wars is why there was no mention of Russia in Mr. Trumps announcement and he imposed no new tariffs on Russia. Is it because they are such good actors that none are necessary. Russia seems to be getting a lot of special treatment from the current administration. From the negotiations on the Ukraine war, where Trump seems ready to cede half of Ukraine's mineral deposits to Russia (and split the other half with the US) in order to appease the Russians, to the fact that he didn't include them in the new tariffs.

You have asked the right person about Russia. You are right in that Russia (along with North Korea, Cuba and Belarus) are getting special treatment. Those four countries have extremely high tariffs imposed upon them by the United States and are being treated separately. It is likely Trump will impose even more severe tariffs on Russia because they have not come to a reasonable negotiating position to end the war. There have been over a million casualties in that war, a war that would not have been started had Joe Biden not been president, and it should not be a surprise that important mineral rights are part of the negotiations. Please don't listen to the left-wing press about what Trump "seems ready to do." Remember the major press was complicit in the Russia Russia Russia hoax.
