  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Are there any fellow Vietnam Vets out there, if so I would like to say to each and everyone of you.

welcome home!!!!!!

We did not get the welcome and handshakes that our brave men and women have gotten today for their service in Iraq, but they deserve it and I salute them all.
And I salute all Vietnam Veterans that did a heck of a job and we did not lose that war for the guilty ones of that were the politicians .

I served in Quang Tri and supported the 3rd Marine Div in 69-70 and I am proud to have served. The only regrets I have is leaving after we had lost over 56,000 American lives. I would have stayed there until it was finished and I would have won before coming home. Fat Eagle.

To all the Veterans of Vietnam and Korea.
I salute you.
The valor of your service was never given the respect it deserved.

Gulf War one, I cried watching the parade. The only thing I could think of was
you never got this kind of welcome home.

To the Air Force, Army, Navy, Marines. To those serving in secret actions over the years.
I salute you.
I lost an Uncle in Vietnam, but didn't die until I was 7. Cancer ate him up.
Another Uncle went to Vietnam the day I was born.
We must never forget those that serve. Doing as they are ordered.
Any Veteran that was lucky enough not to have gone to war, Must remember we could have been sent into these situations.
I still Believe the U.S. Military can win all conflicts. If they are allowed too.
Those in power can order the military to loose.

I am an OIF vet and it looks like I will have to go back again this fall. I was shocked to find out that some OIF vets were called alot of the same horrible names and faced protestors also when they returned. I salute all of you Vietnam vets who did not get the homecoming you deserved. Honestly, I feel like I did not earn my Combat Infantry Badge compared to what you guys endured and I was there from the initial invasion.

The troops today are ever bit as good as any troops that ever fought in any war AMERICA has ever fought in ,if not the best. I take my hat off to all servicemen and women today who have done a superb job in Afganistan and Iraq and when this is all over if those Iraqui's have any sense they should erect a monument to all these brave Americans that fought and died over there that gave them the most precious of things. A chance of Freedom.

I was in the Navy in the Atlantic while you guys were in the field in Viet Nam. I salute you for your courage and service to our country.

 Thanks Jon for all the Vets. The Navy did its part and quite well. I remember when the battleship near us would fire their huge rounds and we could hear them whine overhead on their way to the target. We could count for about 30 seconds before we heard the contact. Wow what a show they put on and charlie took it in the u know what....Fat Eagle.

Jane Fonda finally admitted she made a huge mistake in getting in the gun pit with the enemy but she is not sorry for going to Hanoi to protest the war. Sorry Jane I still do not forgive you for what you did. It will take a direct apology to all Vietnam era vets for doing what she did, and admit she should not have gone to the enemy territory. Then I will think about forgivenes.

I read on drudge report today that some disabled vet spat baccer juice in Fonda's face at a book signing. Even though I do not forgive her yet this was not something anyone should do. To her credit she did not prefer charges but she should have for this heathern had no right to spit on anyone.:(

I got the following letter in an email and passed it on to every Vietnam veteran I know. According to the email, it was written by a former 'peacenik'.

Dear Vietnam Veteran,

I know I should have written much sooner.
I can't say why I did not. Out of fear of admitting to myself you were there, fighting a war. Or maybe ashamed...ashamed that I never accepted the things you felt you had to do. Whatever it is, I know how it must hurt. Believe me when I say it hurts me more. I have the burden of your hurt plus that of my own...the pain of not being able to show my true feeling towards you.

I am not writing this for the months you served in Vietnam, but for the many years you were left alone with only your brother Veterans. You served proudly and it went unmentioned.

For a long time I've wanted to express the words an honorable Veteran needs to hear. For a long time I've wanted to hold you during your times of pain. God knows I wanted to. And only He knows why I never found the courage. I do not remember what I used to say...maybe I do not want to remember. All I know is I hope that it is not too late to give you those things now.

For years you tried to be part of my world; doing everything to please me, just to be noticed and given a little time and understanding.

I look back and see the demands I placed on your shoulders when you were
young. "Fight your weakness and always show strength to others around you."
Who was I to make such a demand?

I sit here with tears in my heart, finally admitting to myself the one weakness you must have seen in me and never questioned: my inabilitly to say the words that I know would have meant so much to you..."Welcome home! You served your country honorably." Please hear these words now, from my heart. Please give me a chance to be part of your world now. The world I should have been part of long ago.

Those of us that served in Vietnam or the service during that time were shamed by what happened there in Nam.
We will always have the stigma of being a part of the only lost war excepting the Confederacy. And all because of a bunch of hippies, rebellious youth and a government that would not see it through.
As long as American troops and our Allies were there we held our ground and kicked the butts of those commies. There was no match between our forces and the VietCong and the NVA and if we had of pounded Hanoi and the rest of the North Vietnam into oblivion South Vietnam would be free today and we would have been victorious as we should have been.
On top of that the soldiers returning home were called names and spit on by Jane Fonda look alikes.
What a sorry affair and if one of my family had of been killed over there I would be madder than a hornet and never forgave the country for what it did.
Now look at it. The Commies leaders are coming to dinner to be in America soon and I hope the president does not meet with them until every dead and missing soldier is home or accounted for.
American businesses like Levi and others are over there making a buck and getting in bed with our enemies. There has to be a reckoning before we can even attempt to be friends. It looks to me like the Marshall plan in reverse. The victors are coming over here and we the defeated are going over there to sell . We had better watch out or Iraq will be our next defeat!!!! God forbid.

I won't debate the war or those "rebellious youth" and "hippies".

All I will say is that I'm deeply saddened that so many Americans and Southeast Asians died. I am saddened that American politicians went against their word, and were so eager to put young Americans at risk (not to mention the indifference to the deaths of Southeast Asians). I am saddened that our government would forcibly ship teenagers across the world to kill people. I am saddened that so many honorable veterans got caught in the middle of the counterculture vs. establishment fight. I am saddened that our young men were forced to invade and occupy another nation, and kill it's inhabitants.

Remember, veterans, who it was that sent you there.

If this was directed to me, I was stationed out of DaNang when I first went in country, wih the 75th Infantry (Rangers). Not that we ever spent much time there. When the Ranger unit stood down and went home, I was reassigned to MACV SOG out of Bien Hoa, with the 1st Cav. In fact, I was with the unit that was talked about in We Were Soldiers. Since most of the combat troops had been sent home by this time, we were moved all over the place.
