Caitlin, that must be so scary and exciting all at the same time. You seem really calm about it, so I really hope it passes through and doesn't cause horrible amounts of damage!

Yeah, tornadoes are pretty rare in the northeast. We have a handful of watches every summer, rarely a warning. Last summer during Hurricane Irene, though, they were popping up all around us, I was absolutely terrified and didn't sleep all night.

I get tornado warnings/watches several times a year here and yeah for the most part they're rather boring and nothing happens. Its when the thunder is hitting so close that your entire house shakes and the golf-ball sized hail starts flying then it starts to get kind of scary. Its actually a big reason why I hate thunderstorms, when its gentle and not much is going on... its peaceful. But they quite honestly terrify me when they're loud and violent. Not that I've experienced a tornado firsthand, I just really don't want too
