So, did anybody else watch the Video Game Awards? Any particular game they announced that you were excited about? What did you think about the winners? Do you think they put on a good show? Thoughts? Opinions?

I was extremely excited when they announced The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and Mass Effect 3. I love Oblivion, and kept hearing about Bethesda making ES5, but actually seeing it and having a release date is awesome. And Mass Effect 3, just speechless.

November 11th, 2011. A little far away, but as long as they make an awesome game, it's worth it.

Hopefully it's release won't be delayed like with a lot of games such as BF 1943.

Yeah, me too. But as far as I know, Bethesda hasn't had too many problems with delays. At least not compared to a lot of companies. And they've been working on it for a while now. I wasn't happy with the Portal 2 delay, but I think it's still out next year, I think in the spring, so here's hoping.

Epic was supposed to have an amazing announcement they were making at the VGAs, which we all "know" is that GoW 3 will be a Kinect game, but they backed out. Now I'm wondering what's going on there. And I feel like Valve had a bigger announcement since they too were making a huge deal about it, yet the Portal 2 thing isn't new. Letdown.

I agree that the Portal 2 thing was a letdown... I mean, it's one of the games I'm looking forward to most.... I love Portal. But that trailer wasn't that great. Give me something new, at least.... And, speaking of Valve, is it too much to ask to get an announcement on Half-Life 3? Wishful thinking, I know, it IS Valve we're talking about. They take ages on games, especially Half-Life... but maybe just a little?

I did like the trailer for Uncharted 3. Looks sweet enough.

So what games won the awards anyway? I generally tend to not care about "awards" and such as I often find myself disagreeing with the majority of critics & gamers alike.

I'm assuming Mass Effect 3 will be on PS3 also? The 2nd game is coming to the PS3 in January.

God of War 3 would have to be my choice for 2010 Game of the Year. As far as multiplayer goes, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood gets my vote.

Let's see.... Red Dead Redemption won Game of the Year. My choice was Mass Effect 2, then God of War 3, but I guess RDR is ok... I haven't played it yet, but it looks good.

Best Action/Adventure Game was Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.... over God of War 3.... I'm not too happy about that, but oh well.

Bioware won Best Studio.... There's some others, but I forgot the others, sorry. Probably look it up somewhere online, they should have it...

And I'm not sure if Mass Effect 3 will be on PS3, but I've read some stuff on game websites about it being on PS3, so maybe....

I was looking forward to Portal 2, but not anymore. I read the big spread on it in GI and all they talked about how it was going to be more grown-up, more evolved, less inside humor, more of a polished "serious" game. I think that breaks the spirit of the whole thing honestly. I'm not looking forward to it so much.

I was hoping for a big L4D announcement. I knew it wouldn't be, but I could still hope. IDK why either since the evolution of it to L4D2 bummed me out.

It was ludicrous. The VGAs always are. They pick the commercial darlings. And I don't get how the game of the year and developer of the year are not linked. The developer of the year should also have the game of the year. And that doo-dah from CoD:BO gets character of the year but Alan Wake gets totally snubbed from everything? Best downloadable game and best indie game are two different games?

It was leaked that it would be. ME2 is running on the engine for ME3, so the reasonable guess is if they've developed an engine for it, the game will come out on it. Though probably not first. You will probably have to wait a bit.

Though IDK why a story-driven trilogy has only 2 of 3 of the games on the platform.
