Victim 0001 9-11 Father Mychal Judge

Father Judge was labeled the first officially documented victim on on 9-11 . He was labeled victim 0001.

Father Judge was the chaplain for the NYFD. He refused to leave and gave his life praying for everyone perishing at the towers.

He was a decent father. He stood when he was called.

Whatever. He died a Catholic priest doing heroic deeds. When it came down to it he knew who he was in his last hours.

That photo guts me every time. I mean, most photos from 9/11 do but there's a certain innocence in this one that just eviscerates me. The fact that he died administering Last Rites too, regardless of what kind of a priest he was—in that moment, he died doing our Lord's work.

Amen Fenwick. I have often heard our true-selves come out in situations like these. I do not think anyone could say he was not sincere in his vocation despite the thorns of the flesh.
