  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I have dogs and they love our vet. Actually they love the lady vet there! LOL - Chloe, my oldest Golden Retriever isn't too keen on much of anyone (outside of family) - but for some reason she's nuts about her Vet - even gives her kisses - which she absolutely won't do for any other non-family members! I guess she (they) knows that her Vet actually loves animals (of course the doggy-treats she gets on the way out help too!). Because of how well our vet does with our dogs, they are never afraid to go. It's a place they actually look forward to going to!

My cat, doesn't like going to the vet. As soon as she see's that carrier, she knows where she is going.. And she runs. I have to start getting ready to take her to the vet an hour early. LOL. But once she gets there, she loves her vet. She actually gets upset if she does not get to see her normal vet. We have to call and make sure that she is there. My rabbit, Pancake, loves going to the vet. I guess it is because she picks him up and cuddles him.. He even bats his eyelashes at her. He is such a flirt. My guinea pig is also like Pancake. He loves it.. I have not had to take my other rabbit Porkchop to the vet. (We just go him Friday)

My kitten ruptured his eyeball in a fight in Mid August so since then the vet has been a regular thing ... at one stage it was once every 2 /3 days because he kept dislodging the staples and he got the elizabethan collar thing put on as well as harness and lead and they did absolutely nothing to try and contain him.

He mews in the car to go to the vet but otherwise he is really good ... he is a 4.9 kilo male persian sook and the vet is used to seeing us alot. The surgery cat got into bailey's carier and bailey went nuts which wasn't cool. But apart from having his eye stapled shut and given ointment which made him foam at the mouth , a thermomater in a rather delicate place and a number of needles he's been ok.

The vet is awesome being opened on public holidays and after hrs - we were told that bailey could have easily lost his eye had we not gotten it seen to.

Mine don't seem to mind. My dog doesn't like getting onto the scale and it is very difficult to drag a 100 pound dog onto it. But besides that he tolerates it, and he loves the ride in the car. We don't take the cats that often, our newest ones haven't gone yet, but the older ones don't really fight you when you put them into the carrier and stuff.

All my dogs have been happy to go. But, frankly, I think it was for the treats and all the interesting doggy odors.

However, I did have one dog in for surgery, and afterwards was asked by the vet to take him home early, as he was complaining too loudly and too constantly. And I did have a dog who, when picked up from any kennel, would be hoarse for days. Such rascals - dont you love them?

Aloha in Jesus

We're fortunate to have a vet in our area who specializes in avian medicine. We've had to take our Quaker parakeet in a few times over the years for various things with no problem. But our African grey, like many of her species, is quite high-strung, and had what looked like a seizure when we took her in last year for a beak and nail trim. She's 15 years old, otherwise healthy, and has never had any such episodes before or after. It seems to have been some sort of panic reaction. So we hope she doesn't get sick, because we're dreading having to take her back to the vet.

BTW, being certified in avian medicine by the American Board of Veterinary Practice is extremely difficult. After vet school, one has to complete a residency in avian medicine, practice for (I think) 6 years, write several original research papers worthy of publication, and pass a very hard exam. This is tougher than getting certified in almost any field of human medicine. There are only about 100 certified avian vets in the world. And they charge accordingly.
