Looks like you got a lot of bang for the buck. I prefer to build my computer anymore, so that it can be more of what I want. I also have been ripped off by Dell, and don't trust anyone anymore.

The asus mobo's are good. Most boxed- pre built pc's come with asus.

That 250gb maxtor hd is one of the faster out there.Is it jumpered to run at the 300mbs? Or does it come set at 150mbs? the 16mb cache is what makes it so fast. (nvm looked it up it is ata isnt it?) (edit)

I have wanted a brushed aluminum case for a while now.

View sonic makes one of the better lcd monitors out there. Especialy in there price range.

I have never heard of the 7300gs video card. I believe the core is 550
and the memory 810? is it only 64 bit like the 256mb model and 4 pixel piplines. As compared to the $400+ 7800 with 256 bit memory and 16 pixel piplines. But that 512mb ram on the card must realy be nice. It makes everything work faster and smoother.

I will tell you something funny ........ today they (the company who sold me the PC) were supposed to be sending me the printer after missing it off my original order , (when I first ordered the pc I PHONED BACK THE NEXT DAY AND ASKED FOR TWO UPGRADES TO MY ORDERED PC ) , when it arrived I couldn't detect the card that permits wirless use to the modem (that was 1 upgrade I asked for) and no printer .........

I contacted them and they assured me that the printer would be sent.

This morning a guy in a van turns up with 4 parcels ......... the same guy with the same computer with the printer !!!!!

I said , "wait a minute I didn't order two PCs ," , he said " I am instructed to make a full delivery or note that you have refused delivery ......" !

so he took everything back , including the printer I had ordered .

Eventually after 35 mins being handed from one person to the next on the phone , they agreed with me that the order had been replicated !

I said forget the printer and the wireless card and cancel my charge on my credit card for the unasked for PC ............... "we cannot do that until the PC is safe back in our shop ......... from the delivery company " they said .......


great isn't it .......... I have been billed twice (4 weeks ago) and am having to run through phoning my credit card company tomorrow and ask them not to charge me any interest on that payement ........ more switchboard hassles........ and more bland innane music ......... *rant over*

How dreadfully frustrating for you, cygnus. Ridiculous stance on their part.....

I had to phone our telephone company today re our lad's mobile phone and had the big wait while the lady tried to get hold of the info from people who suddenly weren't picking up their phones. 20 minutes later she ended up telling me to ring another number, where I was given help immediately.

I ignore the bland music now and spend the time to plan my day or review our bills or.....anything rather than listen to that appalling music.....

All the AthlonX2s (and I assume the FX-60) are the Toledo core.

Nice system cygnus. Very similar to my own. You'll come to love the dualcore... you can dump massive loads on these guys that would grind other CPUs into the dirt.

Just put some new speakers with the pc THE ONES THEY SENT WERE CHEAPOS (only cost 15 pounds) they were that cheap they didn't even mention them in the ad!

I can't tell you how good they sound ........... it's frightening!


the only down side is I should have first checked the price online .... I could have saved a third on the PC-World price...........

the computer however is nice and looks like you got a good deal
