• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Rest assured God will turn it all to your benefit, He has certainly done that for me, though it took 7 years in the making.

Sow good things in your heart like love, kindness, long-suffering, joy, gentleness, peace, meekness, hope, faith, patience and the likes. Ask God to grow these feelings back in your heart.:prayer:

In the mean time surrender your times of faithlessness, hopelessness, misery, fear, guilt, shame, anger, hate and despair into His hand. Refuse to indulge in these feelings. Rather confess them to God and ask God to make you stronger than such feelings.

Await Him when the darkness strikes, don't give up but await Him when you are at your sorest.

Grow His loving goodness in your heart there is nothing that can beat God's goodness, certainly not depression, Jesus has overcome it all and can teach us to be stronger than pain can bring to bear as well.

Be of good courage:hug:

Peace

To God's Depressed Child,

To think less of yourself then God's own
Brings you much pain and suffering.
Your worth is an incredible high price
Also for you did Jesus die on the cross.

Depression is also what devil's lies brings inside
letting a low-self-esteem your good life rob
Untruths roaming freely through heart and mind
Evil lies extinguishing all happiness and fun.

His loving truth brings you His good life
While to believe lies brings pain and grief
So hold onto the promises Jesus made to you
and don't let Satan your good life squander.

Take hold of God's precious loving truth.
A life in Him stays safe from lies that hurt.
Jesus' truth will comfort your bleeding heart
Lovingly remaking your fallen life anew.

That's such great advice, Jeshu. I'm trying to fill my mind with positive things. Is there any certain devotional you've found to be particularly encouraging? I have several I am doing each day since I have so much free time.

No I didn't use a devotional but I did listen a lot to The Sons of Korah, an Australian band, they sing straight out of the Psalms with nice contemporary music. I found that it really helped to stay in God's truth.

This is the battle you are facing to stay in God's truth comfort and sustains you, but to fall back into the lies that depression brings delivers you pain and misery.

Keep sowing God loving thoughts and feelings and ask God to bless/grow them. Also praying for those who are hurting worse than yourself I found to be very helpful.

Know that good things take awhile to grow, and God's good needs sunshine and rain.

Be of good courage and know that Jesus has won and that you will share in His Victory if you dare to battle for His good life.

My Vineyard.

My soul is a vineyard of the Lord.
He chose the site carefully
and dug my hardened soil deep.

He removed all rocks and stones
and built me a wall with them,
a defence so very strong.

He planted the choicest of vines,
in fertile ground He planted them
and watered them deeply.

He cares for the plants very well,
pruning them each season,
strong stock to propagate.

Also a watchtower did He make,
placing guards in it,
a watching eye on things.

A wine press He built as well,
for when my vines yield,
pressing the best of fruit.

The wine of Joy is what I get,
jubilant my maidens dance,
gladness running over.

Jeshu,
I love this music - thanks for sharing. Reading the Psalms is definitely one of my favorite things so this is perfect for listening!

Yeah I found that as well. They got a lot of cd's enough to listen all day. That is what I used to do. Keep God's Word singing on the background. It was sure helpful. Faith in God's love brings us hope and hope in God shall not disappoint us.

Another artist who brought the Bible to music is Sherri Youngward, she sings from the bible and the psalms as well. Very enjoyable and so helpful when depression strikes.
