Babylon will rise to the forefront, it's written in the Bible.

Granted, you are probably right. My problem is that you seem to think it HAS to happen in the next few years. My position is that there's nothing in scripture preventing it from happening 500 years from now.

Well, it only makes sense!

How could the chip's signal depend on blood flow to the hand? A chip would require an independent power source to operate it, a battery of some type. A dying hand wouldn't stop the signal because blood isn't a power source. For instance, pacemakers require lithium batteries to operate, so if a person dies the pacemaker in their chest is still powered. So how does it make sense that a decapitated hand would cause the signal from an ID chip to cease? Do you know of any kind of implant technology that runs off a human's life force?

In Christ,

I would think it would be obvious to the checker, if its too large or the wrong color or dripping blood or decaying.
The identity thief probably wouldn't do it that way. If the checker is a human with an electronic wand, the thief could remove the chip from the victim and have it inserted into his or her hand, or disguise it in jewelry worn on the hand or wrist. If the checker is a large electronic scanner like we have at airports, then the thief could hide the chip anywhere on their body or clothing and get away with it easily.

But anyway, earlier you said hacking off hands wouldn't work because "once the hand dies, the signal doesn't show up". So how does it make sense that a decapitated hand would cause the signal from an ID chip to cease?

In Christ,

Goodness! First, why would you want someone's chip unless they had more money than you? Second, you think they would let you, that you wouldn't be arrested? Obviously big brother would be watching.
And those who have the most to lose would obviously get it on their forehead, which is impossible to use someone else's head.
Why are you fixated on this? No one will be able to steal it or use others'.

If it can be hacked it can be stolen. And people will steal anything.

He Does Much Of That...

And this discourse is no exception. I note that Mk 12 closes with Jesus' refernces to the rich scribes who gobble up poor widow's homes...Oh look--here comes one now! I'll tell you what--they have extracted from her the very last she has!

And just as the wealthy elite gobbled up the homes of the poor, in Mk 13 the wealthy elite would see THEIR house (temple) gobbled up (destroyed). Given that Jesus has foreshadowed this since arriving at Jerusalem (the fig tree episode, the overturning of the money-changer's tables (symbolically pointing to the temple's destruction) and (in the immediate context) the poor widow (Mk 12:38-44).

Why should we NOT regard Mk 13 as the continuation of Mk 12? The evangelists use symbolic actions to lead us to Jesus' total rejection of, and his condemnation of the total establishment as embodied in the temple. This, in turn, reflects the judgment to befall any society that becomes obsessed with its own power, wealth and domination. Could that be why we hear of wars and rumors of wars in our own time and place?

Consider your ways.

Blessings!

Mar 13:29 So you also, when you see these things happening, you know that it is near, at the doors.

"These things" that Jesus talked about did not include the Mark. There is a huge difference between the technology that makes something possible, and the rise to prominence of a man who will take that technology and turn it to evil use. The former might precede the latter by decades or more.

This doesn't even address the issue that the chip cannot, as it exists today, be of any use to a government which is trying to track where a person is at any moment.

The chip as it is today can track your every transcation, at the counter, gas pump, bank account, or place of lawfull employment.

As of January every person flying into or out of the United States must have a passport, even to canada, Mexico,or Bermuda.

U.S. State Department advances NXP technology for e-passport program
Tuesday, September 5 2006
NXP, formerly Philips Semiconductors, has been tapped as one of the suppliers of the United States' new e-passport project. The company's SmartMX passport chip solutions meet the ICAO data security and access standard selected for the security in new passports. This standard prevents illicit reading of e-passports by requiring that the passport be physically open and presented to an authorized reader at a customs border crossing point.

after Jan. 08 it will be needed for buses and trains as well.

The chip is much farther along than you imagin.

With love in Christ

A. No, it can't. Not if you pay cash. Cash is still legal tender in this country. There are many people who don't have bank accounts, credit cards, or debit cards. Get out among the poor people, you might learn some things. Look at all the Check Cashing places in poor neighborhoods, who do you think uses them? People without bank accounts, that's who. Lots of people never ride trains or buses. Lots of people (like me) have never in our lives flown in or out of the USA.

B. That's not what I meant, anyway. I meant, it can't track your movements, where you go, who you meet with, where you are at any given moment.
