• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I am just venting and need to get stuff out. Figured this was a good place to do it. It always helps me to be able to do this.

I hold onto stress so much. I can't let go of it easily at all. Because of a stressful phone interview early this morning, that stress has built and built. Now I am so tense and wound so tight. I can't relax. I can't shake it off.

Typically I would see my therapist tomorrow but we had to change it to Fridays.

A lot of trouble focusing today or being able to concentrate on anything. I am hoping once the boys go to bed I can at least listen to God's word online as really reading and studying is out of the question right now.

When I get so stressed like this, there is only one way(a bad way) to get rid of it. I can't give in. My husband will not be home this evening. He has to be at his office to get bills written up and sent out so we have rent money.

Why can't there be meds just for BPD? I know it is about how we think.

Does anyone have any book suggestions, other than the Bible and Battlefield of the Mind, that you find helpful and encouraging?

Just feeling lost in my emotions right now. Not a good feeling. I just want to be better. My bipolar is under control since I am on good meds. I pray one day BPD will be too.

There is a prayer meeting at church tonight. Texted a few friends and they are going to ask for prayer for me tonight.

I was put on meds when I was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder. There are meds that have helped me, long before I got my Bipolar diagnosis. Have you had a psychiatric evaluation?

As for a book, I recommend Beth Moore's "Breaking Free." She has a Bible study by that name, a devotional by that name, and a book. I started the Bible study, but did not finish it. I have the devotional, which blesses me whenever I read it.

The other suggestion I can make is to find safe ways to destress. I like journaling, and physical exercise. Marsha Linehan's book on Dialectical Behavior Therapy has a several page list of ways to cope with negative emotions.

God bless.

Yes I have had many evaluations.
I have never read anything by Beth Moore but have been told she has some great books.
I do have DBT stuff, that is what me and my therapist had been working on. When I am feeling overwhelmed and stressed those coping skills go right out the window.

I am right there with you on my coping skills going out the window. What I need to do, is practice my coping skills regularly, multiple times a day, before the stressful situation comes up. Unfortunately, I don't do that and then, the stuff hits the fan, and I meltdown.

I have tried using them. The best things that work for me is reading my Bible, if I can't focus to read it, I listen to it online. Prayer gets too hard sometimes because I can't focus. I collect graphics for my Photobucket site and that keeps my mind and hands busy without really having to think about anything.

I've been under a lot of stress lately due to a particularly stressful situation in my life and have been coping badly. One day last week was particularly bad but I have found that praying and giving it over to God helped calm me down so whenever I feel the anxiety rising over the situation I just talk about it to the Lord.

I think that is all we can do. Give it to God and pray. That beats out any doctor or med. I am so sorry you are going through so much stress too. It all seems to come at once for everyone.

I also have difficulty focusing to pray a lot of the time. What helps me is to journal my prayers. I open my Bible and write a letter to the Lord about what I am reading, asking Him questions and thanking Him for the promises I read. That helps me focus a great deal. I get a lot of peace when I do that. Unfortunately, I have not done that lately.

Hugs,
Trish
