I saw them live and they were great. Yeah, they're pretty much GnR minus Axel plus Scott Weiland. There are a lot of tracks on Contraband that are very reminiscent of GnR, but they are also very similar to the stylings of STP (think Big Machine & Do It For the Kids). Overall, they have a very solid sound and I really enjoy listening to them.

Yah I have heared their single out on the radio, I have a copy comming to me, but the mail seems to be extremely slow
How do you have a copy coming to you? All the tracks are in .ogg format and aren't recognized by most burning software. And believe me, I've tried to convert those files through several different programs...

But I'd recommend that you just buy it anyway. It's a great CD and well worth the cash.

Just listened to Contraband today. Actually, I'm listening to it again now. :)
It's very good! It seems like it's been awhile since this kind of flat-out rock and roll album has been released. Anyway, hope Scott Weiland can hold it together this time around, addiction-wise. ;)

Overall I'd give the album a very strong B+ or an A... It just lacked those one or two REALLY powerful songs... I think maybe if the power ballads just stuck out a little more...

Basically... it's like having a really good G'n'R album or STP album, but without the "Sweet Child O' Mine" or "Plush" to make it really seperate it from everything else.

Great album though, worth listening to many times over... and I can't wait for the next album! (bottom line I am also extremely happy to see Scott Weiland finally getting his life together, along with the rest of the band... )

I don't think it sounds like GnR or STP. I had been waiting for this album for a year and a half, and perhaps b/c of that reason, I couldn't help but be a little disappointed with the album. It does contain strong tracks like "Slither" and "Headspace", but doesn't compare to Apetite for Destruction, Use Your Illusion I or II, Core, or Purple. I thought Weiland was pretty lazy lyrically on this album. Although I consider him one of the best lyricists of grunge music, it didn't seem to come together on this album. Did anyone else notice?

ok, im sorry, but it just ****es me off when someone compares vr with g n' r or stp, like, WHAT THE HECK!!!! of course its not gonna sound like g n' r or stp, cause, guess what...its not guns n' roses or stp, its velvet revolver for craps sake. sure, the members are the same, but there not trying to sound like there old bands, there trying to hard rock it out while staying modern.

:) I have their cd and I thought it was pretty good. To me, it's basically just a good ol' rock-n-roll cd with a modern touch to it, which I think rocks.
I also saw them live during the summer and the show was pretty good. Great live performance and Weiland's vocals were right on. Slash & Duff were really nice guys. We got to meet them and Slash looks like he hasn't aged at ALL.

Well I finally got to hear the cd, and I didnt like it too much. I have to disagree with some of you, in it dosent sound like GnR or STP at all... yah its Scott's voice but thats about it. Their sound isnt the same.

I was really hoping for some more really great guitar... but nothing overly impressed me about the cd.
Oh well
