• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I agree with you 100%. I think the pope is going to be the human that pushes the "grand deception" forward into mainstream christianity, which in my opinion will be the false teachings that we were created by alien beings. I believe that is the grand deception that is spoken about in the bible were many will be deceived and fall away.

Perhaps if you studied you Bible more carefully you would not embrace such an outlandish hypothesis.

The catholic church also believes you needs works to achieve salvation. This is an insult to everything Christ stood for.......

It is probably wise to not tell us what we believe unless you really understand what we believe.

Here are some links to information, a sure remedy for your mistaken perceptions:
Are Catholics Born Again
Assurance of Salvation?
Grace: What It Is and What It Does
Mortal Sin (Fathers*)
Reward and Merit (Fathers*)
Salvation Outside the Church (Fathers*)

* This indicates added commentary by early Christians

A) It is a very true thing to say. In the bulk of SDA literature, the Pope is called "antichrist" and Catholicism is called "babylon".

B) Considering that this thread is a rant against the Vatican, I'd say it is fairly well on-topic
defense of the Vatican would be on topic
lashing out at others is not really on topic

And neither are asinine, illogical arguments. Why would your faith be shattered if aliens were discovered? What do aliens have to do with humanity? The universe is huge. By probability alone, we can't be the only ones in it.
Also, the Vatican observatory is actually an observatory. It's a legitimate astronomical institution. They don't use it to "search for aliens."
Gee, that's a fairly mean and belittling statement towards another poster. A man in your position should know better.
If anyone wants to see "mean and belittling" they need only read the closest SDA literature they can grab.
(EDIT: I can prove this if need be)
dude, that is not very nice thing to say
also it is way off the topic of this thread

Excuse me? I was referring to SDA literature, not any one person. Your post is a false accusation. Please don't do that again.

I'm going to preach the gospel where it is not heard. I have already been perscuted for sharing the faith.

Rememeber, few there be that find it. Few there be.

NoBama2012, the official position of the Roman Catholic Church is that a person must believe in Jesus Christ AND be baptized AND receive the Eucharist along with the other sacraments AND obey the decrees of the Roman Catholic Church AND perform meritorious works AND not die with any mortal sins AND etc., etc., etc. Like Jesus said, you hold onto the traditions of men and you let go of the commandments of God. And yes, the bible mentions nowhere about having a pope. He came to London and thousands of catholics flocked to see him do his worthless lengthy prayers, all of which for a show.

Really? Read the following from the Catechism (note where I highlighted in red):

Wounds to unity

817 In fact, "in this one and only Church of God from its very beginnings there arose certain rifts, which the Apostle strongly censures as damnable. But in subsequent centuries much more serious dissensions appeared and large communities became separated from full communion with the Catholic Church - for which, often enough, men of both sides were to blame."<SNIP>

Where there are sins, there are also divisions, schisms, heresies, and disputes. Where there is virtue, however, there also are harmony and unity, from which arise the one heart and one soul of all believers.

818 "However, one cannot charge with the sin of the separation those who at present are born into these communities [that resulted from such separation] and in them are brought up in the faith of Christ, and the Catholic Church accepts them with respect and affection as brothers . . . . All who have been justified by faith in Baptism are incorporated into Christ; they therefore have a right to be called Christians, and with good reason are accepted as brothers in the Lord by the children of the Catholic Church."

819 "Furthermore, many elements of sanctification and of truth" are found outside the visible confines of the Catholic Church: "the written Word of God; the life of grace; faith, hope, and charity, with the other interior gifts of the Holy Spirit, as well as visible elements." Christ's Spirit uses these Churches and ecclesial communities as means of salvation, whose power derives from the fullness of grace and truth <SNIP>

And the Catechism even says the following about NON Christians:

847 <SNIP> Those who, through no fault of their own, do not know the Gospel of Christ or his Church, but who nevertheless seek God with a sincere heart, and, moved by grace, try in their actions to do his will as they know it through the dictates of their conscience - those too may achieve eternal salvation.
