Where did you get that from. I thought it was 71% align themselves with Christianity. Most of these are not practicing, but align themselves with the Church of England.

Christians in Great Britain, CofE has highest membership, followed by RCC in England and Wales, followed by the Methodist Church of Great Britain, then URC, then others. Roman Catholics are not a majority. Unless the stats have changed wildly since I was last informed.

Perhaps you are unaware that Vatican City State is a sovereign nation. They have currency, ambassadors, a flag, a government, an army, etc. And like other nations, they invest in research.

The Pope is the Successor of Peter spiritually, but he is also the last absolute sovereign Monarch in Europe.

You see, unlike Fundamentalists and their narrow view of Christianity, Catholics embrace all truth, about God, the sciences, philosophy, etc. That is what's know as "being educated".
