It seems to me that the Archbishop's could go both ways, when he's accusing the President of being so arrogant as to believe that he is always right (a fundamental Catholic belief when it comes to matters of faith and morals) and again when he's talking about the arrogance of making a decision between life and death.

Not hypocrisy because the Church's faith in the guarantee of truth is by the Holy Spirit. The archbishop is saying Obama is placing himself above God.

Whereas, of course, we all know and believe that God is the Catholic Church and, therefore, above Obama.

Correct. Jesus promised the Spirit of Truth to the Church. He never promised the Spirit of Truth to the president of the United States.

That may be going a bit far. He may be wrong on this issue (and an important issue it is!), but that doesn't make him against God - it just makes him human.
