  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

When we grow old, our bodies wear out. The organs develop problems; the heart and the lungs and others. They break down and fail. These things come with age just as night follows day. Then what happens?

"Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it."
Ecclesiates 12:7

And if we have lived this life as though this is all there is, and have spent our time "having fun" and concentrating on the mundane things, then the next verse apllies to us.

Ecclesiastes 12:8: "Vanity of vanities, saith the preacher; all is vanity."

Life is truly not worth living, if we live it only to satisfy the flesh of a decaying body. Jesus told us the only satisfying and meaningful way to live.

Matthew 19:21: "Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me."

The "How To" of following Jesus is clearly layed out in the Book of St. John.
