I hope it will be clear to me when you guys are trying to talk with me????

Tish - we will be keeping comments on lessons in the posts for that lesson right. I don't want to miss it if someone is trying to ask me something. It might be kinda hard for me to keep track otherwise.

Debi, I will make it more clear in the instructions(you can copy them into your lesson or change them to fit your lesson too) that students should ask general questions in the lesson thread, or PM the instructor for personal questions which they can then discuss in their student notebook with you(like if they are shy or something or its off topic to the lesson itself).... how does that sound?

It worked fine, I preferred the 3 lessons seperately
Question; why do some letters have a dagesh if the sound doesn't change?
you may want to ask this kind of question in the lesson thread as I 'm sure others will want to know too....its a great question:)

great answer:) I love it!!!
Because at an earlier time in history the letters had a dual pronunciation, in fact, in the Yeminite dialect they still do. Also, when you reach tav it has a dual pronunciation in Ashkenazi but not Sephartic Hebrew.

The idea that I like to put forth when introducing Hebrew pronunciation is that there are numerous Hebrew pronunciation traditions and there have been down through the ages. One is not more correct than the other. It depends on your community. The fact is that we don't really know how Moshe, David, or Yeshua pronounced Hebrew, but it was probably different from how it is pronounced today.

Listen to Yemenite Hebrew here:

Varsity is correct different groups have/had different pronunciation. Sephardic is the most common pronunciation today. While the distinction is not in common use with regard to pronunciation, it is still important in spelling. We will talk about that before we finish the alphabet and phonics section.
