  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

All of the threads in singles whether they are pro, anti or just valentines in general are making me look forwards to valentines day and want candy. :)

Anyone have any fun plans for valentines day this year? Or some good or funny memories to share. :)

This is the first year I've ever had a real Valentine... so it's new and fun and flattering and I've been blushing a lot lol. Don decided to do this "12 days of Valentine's" and he's given me a little gift each of the past three days (and I guess until Valentine's Day). I don't deserve it, but I am definitely enjoying it :) We're planning a special day out together the weekend before, hoping for nice weather so we can visit Longwood Gardens and have an Amish buggy ride tour.

I have to work that day and I know it will be an exciting time for my clients, so that will be cute. My husband and I may go out to celebrate that night and may get each other gifts -- but we also may not -- it won't exactly be practical if we end up spending a bunch of money unexpectedly on medical bills for either the dog, me, or both of us. Either way, it is all good. We don't limit special time together or gestures to one day a year. And I'm sure we can think of fun free ways to have a romantic evening at home if we don't have the money to go celebrate that day.

The year we got married, we went to get our wedding rings on Valentine's day. That was cool.

Also, the first year we dated, Kirk had never had a Valentine's day with anyone and we were long distance so he was sad. I made him a photobook with a reason I loved him for every Valentine's day I had missed. It was kind of funny because he had recently asked me if I could tell him why I loved him (he had given me lots of reasons why he loved me) and I (knowing I had made the book) told him to let me think about it. When he got the book it really touched him :)

I'm not sure if we are doing anything for Valentine's Day, but I doubt it. It's not important to me or him. I don't have anything against Valentine's Day (and the idea of sending little valentines to friends sounds fun), but it seems like a commercial love day and not a real one, which makes me want to save that for our anniversary.

Once, a certain someone urged me to make a play on a relative of his, as a "certain day" (hint hint) was coming around.

As if I should recognize the day. Why should I?

Now I'd just send such a person this video:

St. Valentine's Day (Pagan) - YouTube

And explain that it violates my religious beliefs to in any way honor it. I guess that excludes me from sentimental women of a roman/Babylonian persuasion. Good.

I don't think I will be doing anything only because the person I am seeing lives a bit further away then me, but we did see each other this weekend and he gave me the sweetest card with the sweetest message. I have had it on my bed for the last week and every time I miss him I read it.

Last year my friend and I went for burgers, I hope this year we do something together too. Its nice to spend days like that with your friends too. =)

I can't remember the last time I had a Valentine. :p

A friend of mine who's husband is deployed was my date last year for Valentine's Day. We went to a chick flick and then had dessert at Cracker Barrel. It was really sweet. We'll probably do something again this year.

Meh, I'm not big into Valentine's day. My husband and I do special things for each other randomly throughout the year...not just on one day that we're supposed to. I am going to make dinner, I've been so busy lately that I've not been cooking much. I figure he at least deserves a good meal. :p Emily will go to bed a little early that night, but she will get something special. I do love a good reason to get a card, though, so I'll probably get him one even after I told him not to get me one. :p
