How do you usually spend Valentine's day as a single person? For me, Val's day has been a day I always wish would end quickly because most activities and events are organized for couples only. Just wondering how other singles spend their day

I've spent Valentine's Day alone and with a GF.
I don't know yet which it will be this year.
I'm going to a Ball the week after with a GF, Since she lives an hours flight away we can't be together for Valentine's Day.

But its all good.

If I was not a diabetic,I would eat chocolate all day to make me feel better. Instead,I would buy myself some Wor Won Ton Soup,or some other Chinese dish,and watch an original episode of "Hawaii 5-O",or an episode of "M*A*S*H."

Yes most of the time I find out a week later That it was Valentine's day. Who cares? When I was married I forgot it also.

That is very sad. It was my duty as a husband to remember Valentine's Day, our anniversary, her birthday, Christmas of course, and with preteen children I was responsible for ensuring she was appreciated on Mother's Day.

She habitually forgot my birthday and even now when she fills in forms to divorce me still gets it wrong.

I don't think about it unless I see some kind of ad, someone says something or I walk into a local drugstore and see all the decorations and candy. So like another poster said, it's just another day. I do have to say holidays are a hit and miss with me though. I do think if a church celebrates married people, they should also have something to encourage single people. That's how I got into serving Singles years ago. I was glad to have been a part of that for my single bro/sis in Christ. If only for a moment in that setting, it was okay to be single and everything that that entailed.[/FONT]

When I married my first wife, it was my idea to get married on Saturday, February 14,1987. That way, I would not forget the anniversary date.

In abject misery with much wailing and gnashing of teeth pulling my hair out as I fail hopelessly in a pit filled with my own tears.

Well, okay, maybe not.

Trite, naff day of over-priced and poor quality food and gifts. This next one will be my first on my own for 10 years though, so that will be interesting....but to be honest it no more bothers me than NYE (which I am glad to avoid).

I basically ignore it, as well. However, there have been one or two years where I did this great thing inspired by Charles Stanley. He suggested we write a valentine to the Lord, the same way a young child might write one to a parent. It was really a great experience. I might do it again this year, if I happen to remember it's valentines.

It never feels like this to me

The only reason I remembered V-Day last year was someone sent me a small black and purple heart shaped pillow with a hand written note. Before anyone thinks of this as romantic it came from a stalker. This adds evidence to my theory that I'm fly paper for freaks.

I thought that was what Valentine was for, to send a card to someone you secretly admire and they don't know who sent it. It's less romantic when it's sent by a freak though, lol.
