  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Thread: Secrets in the Attic

Name: Vale Stratton
Gender: Male
Age: 17

Appearance: He has light blonde hair that almost looks white in the right light, cut short, but by his own hand so it's sporadically uneven. His eyes are a more ocean blue, but with a touch of sea green, however, they are hidden behind thin glasses. His skin is a fair ivory with a few freckles placed randomly on his upper cheeks and nose. He's tall and thin, but average so. In general he's not every girl's dream knight in shining armor, but he's attractive in an innocent way.

Personality: He's actually quite talkative when he wants to be or when he yearns to learn. He doesn't mind asking questions, but isn't annoyingly bothersome and knows when to be serious or have fun. He tries to look on the positive side in every situation and is there in a flash with a listening ear. Books are his passion and he's fairly intelligent, but doesn't like to show it, afraid he may be picked out as the center of attention. He's kind and curteous in every sense of the word, and doesn't mind dropping everything to help some one in need. He's not at all that brave and can often stutter in anxiety, which is why he tries desperately to avoid those situations or ignore them all together. He's not distant, but sometimes can be quiet or shy if he feels out of place.

Background: Vale was born in England to a rather wealthy family and grew up there as a baby and then eventually a toddler, learning to walk and talk. They used to visit America on numerous occasions due to a favorite house of theirs in the mountains, but when Vale was five-years-old (and their last trip to America) they 'abandoned' him in an orphanage and then left. No one was able to explain exactly what had happened. Some believe they just got tired of raising a child so they tossed him out like you would a puppy when kids have gotten fed up playing with him and then rearranged their lives (even their names), and others believe they had no other choice, forced at gun point to leave the child on the step of an orphanage and then eventually killed for their wealth.

Whatever the reason, Vale was left in a strange country, outside the door of a strange building, to the care of a very strange woman. The boy was smart enough to know his name, but when she couldn't locate his parents the authorities became involved, and unfortunately they couldn't either. It was as though Vale's parents had just disappeared right off the face of the planet, leaving their son to fend for himself (with no other distant or close relatives), without taking another step in England.

And there he has remained for years in the Whipstaff Orphanage, growing older, and still clinging to all hope that some day his parents would return for him.
