  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Does anyone have the V-Smile system? I was thinking about asking Santa for that for Christmas for Sean, but while shopping for games I realized it would be great for both kids. I did speak to another customer in Target who said they loved it. But I was wondering if anyone else has used it.

I think the review by the kid was particularly helpful that and the several remarks about quality of the product (finicky, have to blow on it, bad graphics, ect) Sounds like an old netendo, I would wait a bit for the product to improve. But then I don't have a netendo either.

My kids, who are 3 and 4, love it. They could play it for hours. Older children may not like it because it could been seen as cheesy but older children can handle a real gaming system.
It isn't the best quality picture but I wasn't expecting an XBOX like system for $40 dollars.

I bought InteracTv for Andie & she has alot of fun playing it...here's a link: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000284X58/qid=1129133664/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/103-4662001-8919804?v=glance&s=toys

Even tho some of the reviews aren't great, I haven't had a problem with it and all the characters are ones that Andie is familiar with.

That looks neat Deb. Do you know how much it is? That Amazon link doesn't have a price. I know they sell those cartridges (and I guess the system too) at Walmart, so they're easy to find.

I just don't want to get something like the LeapPad. We spent all this money on the pad and books and Sarah really doesn't play with it.

Our in laws bought the mini leap pad and David isn't too impressed yet, but he may grow into it. I don't know if I would get a V Smile.... I would rather buy something like a mini basketball hoop or a bicycle to encourage exercise. If your kids need extra help with alphabet or addition or those kinds of things then maybe it would really help, but if they are doing fine then it would just be the entertainment value.

Less than $40...I just checked online with walmart & the advertised it for $34.99.

Here's a link to the actual site for InteracTv...http://www.fisher-price.com/us/interactv/default.asp

You've gotta set it up so it works with your DVD player, but once I did that it's been great. I showed Andie a few times how to do it, now she can do it on her own...after I get it up & running for her, that is.

I just bought "My First Leap Pad" for Andie for our KY trip...she seems to enjoy it..for now! Actually, the one thing she seems to like most is the volume button....:o

Thanks Deb. I think I'm going to look at it at Walmart. I'm starting to question the whole V-Smile thing. It's more expensive, and I'm not sure how long he'll want to use it. Sarah was using the PS2 by the time she was 5.

Yes Leanna, Sean does need some help with letters, numbers, colors and shapes so that's why I'm looking into these things. I'm trying so hard to figure out his learning style, he's so different than my daughter was. I'm hoping something like this might be of interest to him. He also doesn't seem to show much interest in the LeapPad either.

Cool! Then I think you are very smart to find a way to help him that would be fun too!! :) We may get one someday too, who knows. I am just an oddball sometimes..... I am a little obsessed with my kids getting exercise.... lol :p

Oh, I completely understand the need to get them moving. I'm always kicking my kids outside. My little guy will go outside without an argument, but not so much with my girl. But then my daughter learned her colors, shapes, numbers and letters much earlier than my son. So at this point, I'm just looking for another way to reach him.

We have a v-smile under our bed for a christmas present for the boys. for their birthdays we are getting a ride-on John Deere tractor for them. so that ought to cover the outside bit.

our friend has the v-smile and is very happy with it - it has some good educational games, and is simple enough for little kids to work it out. It will still take them a bit to get used to the buttons, but it is fun and they learn!
