The Police seem to have lied in the aftermath of this incident because their story massively changed, and it all seems to be about saving face rather than they did not have learn about certain things until much later.
One interesting tid bit that is even more damning coming from the video, the Police actually had a drill at the school only a week or before where they supposedly prepared for an event like this!
(The police sat around for 70 minutes listening to the gun fire).
I guess I'm not surprised by all this stuff working as a security guard, and also being a gun owner etc. where you learn a little about the law and procedures governing the police. The official job of the police is "to enforce laws". They have motto's like "serve and protect", and they try to make some effort to do that, because that is good community relations, but technically speaking that is not their job, and when it comes to risking their lives they have a lot of discretion.
Anyway this is one of the big points in owning a gun, not only does it take the police a long time to arrive but they may not do much when they show up. And depending how liberal the area is the police may even arrest you for defending yourself in the aftermath of a shooting if they got a really liberal DA in your city etc.
