Only got the Demo at present. When I first read and saw screen shots for UT2004, my 1st thought was (and im an avid UT fan) "Oh dear... looks like a bad copy of halo".

The vechles were too simular.

Now that I've played the demo......

Halo is history ;). UT2004 ROCKS! It's what a mindless shootemup should be... fast, smooth, and not attempting to be "realistic" in any way.

I LOVE IT

excellent game. i've got it. :)

There're alot of bugs and niggies that annoy everyone. Esp the GPF errors and loading times. you just gotta turn precaching off and it should run fine.
Yeah, a patch would not hurt my feelings. Nevertheless, great game. Oh, my load times are down to about 15 seconds, and I haven't defragged yet.

blah...i want to play, but my computer keeps crashing.
before i installed the demo, my games used to work.
but now, all of them are crashing my computer these days. :(

Hmm... if they are now ALL crashing... did you install DirectX9b with the demo?

If so you may now need to also update your Graphics Card drivers to make them compatible with DirectX9b.

Just a thought.

Ahh do you remember when we had to update our drivers for every new game that came out? Ahh those were the days....
...........anyway. ;)

Blasphemy! :p
Just wait till Halo 2 comes out! :p

LOL let me clarify my possition here.

I LOVE Halo... on the Xbox.

I have always loved the UT series since the oringinal multiplayer mode in Unreal (the sinlge player story line game for PC that just "happend" to have deathmatch mode...ah how it al started)

I SIMPLY CANT WAIT FOR HALO 2 ON XBOX!!!! GUTTED THAT IT IS DELAYED BUT JUST CANT WAIT.

I've played through Halo on "Heroic" and am now going through again on Legendary.

So have we established I AM a Halo fan? ...good! ;)

But on PC..... Halo vs UT2004? Sorry... gotta be the latter. :(

But when I say that I am talking about the Multiplayer mayhem.

Halo and Halo2 will rock in terms of single player story line :)

Gotcha. ;)

One of my friends and I got to talking about UT 2004 in PE class, and my computer's too wussy to run it... I hear 1 GHz is, like, the MINIMUM... and even then, the frame rate absolutely bites!

Hmm, wouldn't know. Both my machines are higher than 2 Ghz, but as always the BIGGEST factor is Graphics card.

Runs soooo smooth on my desktop which is a P4 2.4 Ghz HT, with 1 GB Ram and a 128 MB Geforce FX 5600 video card.

I run the game (sorry, "demo", yet to get full version due to job situation) at 1280 x 1024 32bit with every option turned full and it runs fine, although I have seen some slow down when using zoom and there are a lot of smoke effects going off. Im sure if I reduced the res and colour depth, that would be fixed.

My laptop however, which is a P4 2.2 Ghz with 512 MB Ram and only a 16 MB ATI Rage mobility grahics chipset.... it will run the game but there is loads of slow down, even at low res with all options turned low.

So graphics card is a MAJOR factor.

All that said.... Halo plays like a dog on my desktop and the graphics just fall apart on my laptop. Both with options turned down as well as res.

To have to run a game at low res on my desktop.... now that's just wrong :(

Everyone's desktop is below spec for Halo PC at maximum graphics settings. That thing is a beast.

Ahhh, but Halo 2 will have multiplayer on Live, that'll probably rule, since none of my friends live close enough to come over to play Halo multiplayer with me. :D

Yeah I hope so. For me Halo is the cross point between realism and fun. It's got all the high poswered future weapsons like Unreal Tournament. It's got the instant re-spawn like UT, BUT at the same time it's got the team play and strategy and "oops Im easier to kill than an elephant on stroids" of say, Counter Strike (unlike UT where you laugh in the face of rocket launchers and chain guns as you circle strafe again and again, capping off all your rounds of all your guns, each with a direct hit and still your oponant it left standing (ok so I went too far))

In short... CS + UT = Halo/Halo2 (for me.)
