• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A little tip the Holy Spirit's revealed to me that I've really benefited from.

Anytime you have to wait--if the bus is late, when dinner's not ready yet, or in my case, the times when my computer doesn't want to start, just use that time for a short, meaningful prayer. Pray for the bus driver, pray for the cook, pray for whatever comes to mind, but as long as you're turning to God, He'll help you out.

"Pray constantly."

excellent! this is a fairly new strategy for me as well

to turn it around and to pray for others

bus driver mean and grouchy? prayer for him!!

just go about your entire day doing this

keep doing it and make it into a habit

it will become second nature!!

I promise that this new way will renew your mind and completely turn you around

your outlook or perspective on life will have an amazing refreshment!

Amazing! What you've mentioned is a lot of what's happened to me, as well!

It's like we're all being led by the same Spirit or something!^_^

Ive got to keep it up too, as when I am not doing this I start to go downhill

all day long is like some kind of life line, against depression/despair

but the prayers are mostly for other people!

It seems counter intuitive to pray all day and night for others and other situations

but it is changing my brain!

This is Gods way, it must be, Hes so different isn't He, than mans way?

He IS the wonderful counselor!!

Good to see how I can help!

That reminds me of another book. Love is Patient, but I'm Not. I've never read it, but it sounds pretty good!

God bless you, too!

recepie for joy

1) Jesus first

2) Others second

3) Yourself last
My priest mentioned this in a homily a few years ago... it's one of those great pieces of easy-to-remember advice! Hard to truly live out, but if you just keep asking, God never stops helping.

absolutely, handy to remember it is....and we keep asking all day every day and we become closer to Him, its impossible not to get to know our creator and have a personal relationship with Him..by doing this.

where is God many ask

seek Him out, with all our your heart and soul and might

pray pray pray, read the word, go to mass, get on your knees, take communion, confess your sins, serve others, and on and on it goes

this is our life if we say we are His followers....then we must do that: Follow Him!

In total agreement with this. I was also reminded of this sometime ago; "We're meant to pray without ceasing".

It is always a joy seeing younger people having a desire for the Lord. Keep it up! :)
you're right! I forgot about that verse:

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

16 Rejoice always; 17 pray without ceasing; 18 in everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus to you

wow-I forgot this is the will of god!!

He wants us/commands us to do this!!

How many of us have forgotten too???

I testify- we really need to keep reading the bible and not fall too far away....

it so full of "new" discoveries every time I pick it up.
