Tell that to JTACs :p

Yep!

I served for 22 years in the Air Force, and 12 of those years were far from cushy. As a Tactical Air Command and Control Specialist working forward air control, I was attached to the army combat arms units to provide close air support. I served with the 1st ID, 3rd ID, 1st AD, and 10th Mtn Div.; the only differences between me and the guys I served with in the field were the color and location of my stripes and the top left corner of my paycheck.

My first duty assignment was Ft. Lewis with the 5th Air Support Operations Squadron.

I never was assigned to Ft. Lewis (however, I was born in Tacoma and grew up in Spanaway), but I did serve with the 1st ID at Ft. Riley and the 10th Mountain Division at Ft. Drum (my last assignment before retiring).

I spent most of my time in Germany where I served with the 3rd ID at Aschaffenburg and Schweinfurt, the 1st AD at Ansbach, and a couple of years with HQ VII Corps at Stuttgart.

I'm dating myself here, but I did my combat tour with the 1st AD in Operation Desert Storm.

When I wasn't working as a ROMAD (TACCS), I was rotated into assignments at air bases as a radio repairman.

How long were you in the Air Force?
