  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I copied this and emailed it to Mom.

Kirk and I are going to be meeting with his cousin (who is a lawyer) to go over stuff like this for us.

Awesome. :) They can be done the way I suggested or through an attorney, though an attorney is more expensive due to their hefty hourly rate...unless you get a family discount. ;)

My brother is evidently fine tonight and has his appetite back.

Unfortunately, he and his GF broke up this afternoon so I'm worried about that being a major stressor. This is basically his first GF and they have been going out for years.

Mom says he is fine, though...

it sometimes takes a while for the effects to 'settle in' so keep an eye on him.
I hope he does indeed end up taking it well though

Still very hopeful news here (SO glad to hear about the new doctor). Although breakups are difficult without all the stuff your brother's been through, that it was mutual sounds really good. I would keep watch on him though, all things considered.

Today my brother was freaking out emotionally, which is totally out of character for him. He wouldn't open up to my parents about it but talked to the doctor on the phone. The doctor told my parents he was "distraught" and not to leave him alone or let him drive. He had them give Matt a very low dose of a new antipsychotic, but he said Matt is not having psychotic symptoms right now. From what I understand, he gave Matt the antipsychotic because Matt cannot sleep again (in spite of taking two sleeping pills last night [per doctors instructions]).

All I really learned today is that the breakup was NOT mutual, it was Matt who called it off (both his best friend and his ex told my parents this -- his ex has called Mom twice today to check on Matt). Also, evidently something is going on with the best friend's family and Matt was supposed to live with them after my parents move next month -- now it seems that option is out. I think Matt may be freaking out about what he will do for school since he goes to school in Jacksonville and yet has no place to stay anymore once my parents move.

Matt went to the doctor this morning and had his meds changed again. The doctor gave my parents the option of hospitalizing him or taking care of him at home. They are going to take care of him at home. The medicine should take 5 days or so to get in his system and according to the doctor he may not be totally normal again for another 2 weeks.

My brother is still not 100% yet but is doing better at home than he would a hospital. He and his GF got back together today... not sure if that will last, because I'm not sure if his GF understands that he's still not really all there.

My brother is going back to the doctor this afternoon. He and my parents moved to a new house in a new city this weekend. My mom says he handled it well and has been symptom free for a while. He is having side effects from the medicine, though, and still is relying on sleeping pills to sleep, too. He has tapered to half the dosage of the sleeping pill. Mom said since he has been on this medicine, his reaction time is slower, so he has not been able to drive. He is withdrawing from his college classes since he cannot live there this semester, but that's a good thing as that would be so many stressors for him (living on his own for the first time, having to live with different people, dealing with the schoolwork and such). Anyway, I'm interested in seeing what the doctor says today since he is symptom free...
