CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I came home from work and Melissa got me in the house quietly because she was talking to her brother on speaker-phone. I was pretty freaked out by what I heard. I've never heard anything like that before.
To put it lightly her brother is delusional. myself, Melissa, and her dad agree on this from talking to him.
To be clear, he doesn't seem to be a danger to anyone or himself. However for some reason he was going on and on about some new religion or spirituality that he came up with himself. He is very excited about this. He a couple times referred to himself as "The leader". He also seems to be slightly paranoid. He sounds nothing like himself.
Her dad wants to take him to the hospital and we think that is for the best. We're not sure what caused this, it could be a couple things and the main suspect we have is the sleep deprevation. A recent head injury is also of concern.
We'll try to update you as things go on. Your continued prayers are apprechiated.

This is Melissa posting from Kirk's account. Both my parents went home and took Matt to the ER (he went willingly) and his drug tests were negative. His pupils were dialated and his heart rate was 155. His blood pressure wasn't too bad. He is having a CAT scan and MRI and has been admitted to the hospital to stay overnight. They gave him Ativan to try to calm him down.

It sounded like he was too overstimulated to be able to sleep. We thought maybe it could be drugs but he tested negative for any drugs.
It could be a lot of things causing all of this. Physically, he had a recent head injury and also a recent surgery. Psychologically, he has had a lot of stressors in his life (death of a loved one, me moving away was a big change for him, he's started college and is moving out, my parents are moving away, etc).
I haven't ruled out the possibility of a drug reaction or interaction from prescription drugs. I was about his age when I had a reaction to drugs and had to be hospitalized with a drug induced psychosis. So, with him being my brother and all, it is entirely possible both of us are sensitive to things like that.

They just got done with another test and it will be about 45 minutes before they know the results. They had to redo the MRI as well because the first one got messed up.

The drug induced phycosis thing seems possible if both of you had it.
I remember one time after I had ACL surgery I was given a bunch of pain killers to take. And the first night home I remember waking up in the middle of the night. It was only time in my life where I ever felt capable of hurting someone. So incredibly scary. Fortunately I calmed myself down and I was completely fine after that.
