  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have a friend I'll call Debbie, who has an abusive husband. He has beaten her several times, and choked her hard enough to leave finger-print bruises on her neck.

She called me tonight crying. He had twisted her arm and punched her in the kidneys. This woman has cancer, and they have a 7 week old son.

Anyway, when I got there, I saw that her arm is very likely broken. She refused to allow EMS to come out. I called the police - as a chaplain, I am required to. But she wouldn't press charges and made up an excuse for her arm when she was talking to the police. She left with the baby and came to my house, but then he called and told her he was leaving and she and the baby could stay there tonight. So she made me take her home. I sat in front of her house a little while, but he never left.

I've done all I can. I am afraid he'll kill her, but if she refuses to leave or press charges, there's nothing I can do. I am praying for her, and ask that you do, too. I'm worried about her and the baby. I've reported it to the authorities. Please pray for her safety.
Thanks.

Wow!

First of all bless you for being there for your friend.

second, I place your friend in the hands of the Father and I ask that He give her the courage and strength to make a break from this man. I ask that the Lord protect her. I also pray that she would be surrounded with people that will help her.

He thinks he's a Christian, but he doesn't act like one. He cheats, steals, and lies, then repents faithfully every Sunday.

She has issues with delusions (She says that her husband is controlled by demons, which I guess is possible, and that the nurses in the maternity ward were Wiccans and were trying to exchange her baby for a demonically possessed one.) Lord, please, help them both. But especially help that baby.
